construction workers

How many on here are construction workers? Know of any new power plants being built in the near future? Has any one heard anything about a coal burner project starting up in Osceola, Arkansas? I've been here in South Texas since August and starting to get antsy to hit the road before summer.

We've got more than enough work up here but the oil companies have been able to get the government to believe there is a labor shortage and they (the government) has given the open door to fly in Mexicans/South Americans to work in our country . The oil companies can then skirt all the safety and compensation issues etc. theoil companies will pay them next to nothing too..Of course I can hardly wait to see the look on their faces (foriegn workers)when they have to work outside in this weather.. it's nearly -41C tonite! I've gone down south of the border to work and you seem to have the same problems ..with your Presidential Mainteniance agreements and all that stuff. It's a shame what they have done to ruin a persons living these days.

The company I have been working for is supposed to start the dirt work in Lawton OK for a co-gen plant. Nothing has been going on since we finished theone last spring in Fluvanna County Virginia. Thats why I transfered to there offshore division here in South Texas. For the last six months all I hear is "work will start after the first of the year" or "after the presidential election". The next few months should let us know.

There's construction on a power plant in Bartow, FL and one in Parrish, FL. Both are near the Tampa Bay area. I haven't checked up on it lately, but I got my info a few months ago from www.jobhotsheets.com. Lots of jobs listed there from all over the country. They ask you for a little bit of money for a subscription, but if you have the qualifications/references it's well worth it!
