Cma......huh????
The only CMA I ever heard of is the Country Music Awards........until.....I was negotiating with a dealer (Canada) over the price of a new truck. We more or less agreed that I would pay him $1000.00 over dealer invoice. He printed a sheet with 2 columns. MSRP and DEALER INVOICE. Then after the total for the invoice he penned in ...profit $1,000.00 then $399.00 admin, and then CMA $450.00.
I asked about the CMA and as near as I can tell, he said it was a charge made by Chrysler for putting inventory on his lot and it is part of the price of all cars, the same as the delivery/destination charge except it doesn't show on the sticker. Just buried somewhere I guess. He claimed that whenever he negotiated an invoice plus price, he had to add it manually because the computer doesn't do it. Like I said.....HUH????
I walked away feeling like I was being played.
Can anyone out there shed some light on this CMA charge? Is it a legitimate charge? If it exists, what do you think of Chrysler not showing it on the sticker??

Just a plain ole guy
We have learned to not negotiate details. One number is all we discuss. The final number. If it don't match we say goodbye. We walked away from a car deal for the wife because they were $10 above our price. Salesman got so mad that he ripped up all the paperwork and stuffed it in a can. I told him I don't care what you write down, we had a limit and will not pay 1 penny more.

True!
They wanted me to pay them 400 dollars more than I could buy the truck outright cash for, was trading in a 4 year old Banks Turbo equipped 86 Diesel C10 with under a hundred thousand on it.
Could buy the new truck for 13,800 cash, they wanted 14,200 plus my truck, said they were forced to go off "List" when accepting a trade in.
Let's just say I cleared their showroom very quickly, Marines would have been blushing.

I bought a new 5th wheel recently... I told them my out the door price; they came back twice. The last time $800 more than my offer. She says "you're going to walk away over $800?" I replied "I can't believe you're going to let me walk away over $800!" and started to get up... the sales manager made a call came back and said we had a deal at my price.

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...
A few years ago my mother in law wanted a new car and was paying cash for it. The first dealer wanted to run a credit report. She said she was paying 100% cash and was not going to give SS# to run a report. I was with her and also told the sales guy we would walk out after working up the complete OTD price. He was determined to run a report so we walked. He called that afternoon and we told him we bought from another dealer and no credit report was even mentioned!!
I've also walked out over a $20 a month difference in payment. To hell with their added fees!!

Haven't found anyone who knows anything about CMA including a Chrysler Canada customer care person.
She did promise to look into it and get back to me with an explanation.
