Can anybody tell me the name of the 5-speed tranny in a 93 chevy 2500 with a 350. Don't remember.

Its a new venture group transmission, either a NV3500 or a NV4500..........just like our truck only slightly different. I'm not sure which model exactly though. tough call on a 3/4ton. 1/2tons are NV3500 1tons are NV4500.......I have a '97 Chev K3500 crewcab dually 4wd with a bigblock and NV4500 in stock trim.

New Process NP435 were generally in fords, Muncie SM420 and SM465 were in GMs and each of those are 4 speeds, with granny 1st (of varying ratios) and 1:1 4th. Those are ancient gearboxes, lots still on the roads, but old old stuff. Last factory install for a SM420 was late '60s and the SM465 was '91. The NP435 was about '92 it ended in Fords. and somewhere around the for Dodges too.

Simple, if it is aluminum with an integral bellhousing, it is a NV3500, Cast iron case with detachable bellhousing, it is a NV4500.

I have seen a few LD 3/4 tons with the NV3500.
