Good morning everyone.
My deepest sympathies to Shorts in the loss of her beloved best friend, Chester. There are no words that will REALLY help, but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
It is Sunday, March 30th.

1842 - Dr. Crawford W. Long performed the first operation while his patient was anesthetized by ether.

1858 - Hyman L. Lipman of Philadelphia patented the pencil.

1870 - Texas was readmitted to the Union.
1909 - The Queensboro bridge in New York opened linking Manhattan and Queens. It was the first double decker bridge.

1940 - The Japanese set up a puppet government called Manchuko in Nanking, China.
1941 - The German Afrika Korps under General Erwin Rommel began its first offensive against British forces in Libya.
1944 - The U.S. fleet attacked Palau, near the Philippines.
1945 - The U.S.S.R. invaded Austria during World War II.
1946 - The Allies seized 1,000 ***** attempting to revive the **** party in Frankfurt.
1972 - The Eastertide Offensive began when North Vietnamese troops crossed into the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in the northern portion of South Vietnam.
1975 - As the North Vietnamese forces moved toward Saigon South Vietnamese soldiers mob rescue jets in desperation.
1981 - U.S. President Ronald Reagan was shot and wounded in Washington, DC, by John W. Hinckley Jr. Two police officers and Press Secretary James Brady were also wounded.
1982 - The space shuttle Columbia completed its third and its longest test flight after 8 days in space.
1993 - In the Peanuts comic strip, Charlie Brown hit his first home run.
1998 - Rolls-Royce was purchased by BMW in a $570 million deal.
2002 - An unmanned U.S. spy plane crashed at sea in the Southern Philippines.
Today's thought:
Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times, but only to those who remember to turn on the light.
Thanks for the c0ffee B0b!

There is no G. There is no G. Repeat after me, THERE IS NO G!
Morning.
Bob thanks for the breakroom. Last night after tossing and turning I finally fell asleep. A good sleep. (I hadn't slept the night before either). Woke up this morning, for a brief instant the world was right. And then I remembered
This house is lonely without him (no offense to DH sitting right next to me). My routine is severely altered. Got my cup of coffee and stepped outside, like I have done every morning for the last 9.5yrs. No command to give. No food to prepare or put down. No sounds of an enthusiastic Labrador eating.
This will take some getting use to. For so long it was him and me. Now, just me. I don't like it. But no other can take his place.
Talking and writing this stuff out helps. I hope yall don't mind.

Top said it best: God just got an awesome dog.
I forget people but not all those dogs I have trained or adopted.
It is a total whiteout today.

Shorts, though I'm not a big dog person I know how and what you feel. We had Cougar from 1992 to 2009. They are family and friend, not just a pet.
My sympathies to you.

Not fun loosing a good pet. Our little Chihuahua was probably the most loved, especially by DW. That little thing was her constant shadow. Would sit under her feet while making supper. Patiently sit near the family while we ate. She rotated beds at night sleeping with the three kids. She was our asthma dog - - our son never required another shot after getting her. We missed her a lot. They grow on you. Our thoughts are with you, Shorts.

We don't mind at all. Your loss has reminded some of us of our past losses.
Its been long enough now for me to think back on the good times with our stupid mutt and enjoy the memories without feeling sad (usually).
I hope your journey to that point isn't too long and painful.
Plus its better than talking about Scotty's LEGGS.

Shorts, I definitely know how you're feeling. June 19th of last year "I" had to put down one of our dogs. By far the hardest thing I've ever had to do. There's not a day goes by that what I had to do doesn't haunt me.
Just know that we care here at DTR and Chester is playing and having the time of his life in Gods yard.

There is no G. There is no G. Repeat after me, THERE IS NO G!
Morning.
Thanks for the words of comfort. Last time I lost a pet I was in college, and I wasn't too broken up about it, I'm embarrassed to say. First, my cat Holyfield got out the door and we couldn't find her again. I was in the hospital at the time after my accident. About a year later my dog Rolo got out of the fence with mom's little dog. We never were able to find them.
Chester is different. From 7wks to 9yrs 8mths he was my dog. DH would agree.
Yesterday in the garage DH asked how I was doing. I told him I was real sad. He hugged me and said, "I know Sweetie. Will you be this sad when I die?" I told him we'll see
Thanks for the stories about yalls dogs too. I'm sure Chester is shrimp-butting all around the Big Dog Park with uncontrollable excitement, greeting the other loved pups that have gone before him, sprinting around in his big strong body again.
Hot cup of coffee going down. We started drinking Dunkin' Donuts brand. I think we bought it when we had company, to impress them of course. Just kept buying it after that. We normally drank Folgers. lol Now I don't have fancy plastic buckets to use in the garage.
