CB needs a little boost

Need a little advise....I have a Cobra tuned and tweaked with Firestix antenna and SWR set at 1.3...gettin ready to put a 250 watt kicker in....I have 10 gauge wire run for the power into the engine compartment where can I tap for key switch power ?? and what size coax should I use from the kicker to the antenna ??<br><br>I have a Astatic RD104E NC Power Mic should I run pre-amp on the kicker with this Mic

Around my area you need what's called a Super Mod to run a kicker. Not sure what it entails but I know if you don't do it you'll burn up the radio. <br><br>As far as the wire if your just running a lil' 2 pill kicker like that you should be alright with 10ga but you might want to jump down to 8ga if you don't already have the wire.<br><br>As far as power source. If you really wanting to boost the power of your CB then wire it directly to the batter and wire the kicker to the battery too. But run a good ground from the battery to the frame.
