CAT BadBoy mower
Thinking about this:
http://www.badboymowers.com/view/compact-diesel-series
I'm in the market for a zero turn mower and the 28hp CAT keeps getting my attention. My step dad has the diesel Kubota and its just plain bad so I would only assume the CAT would be that much better. I mow @ 5 acres and my fininsh mower is slow but it does a good job. Does anyone know much about this smaller CAT? I wouldn't think they would put out junk but don't know how many smaller diesels they produce.
Its hard to justify this much $$$ but I'm a "buy it one time" kind of guy so this will probably be the last one and I'm looking to run it for at least 30yrs.

I recently bought a John Deere 777 zero turn mower (used) after looking for a long time.
My thoughts are:
1. With Cat and John Deere you pay a lot extra for the name.
2. Kubota is the best you can buy when it comes to zero turn mowers.
3. I'm not a fan of small Cat diesels, the smaller they are, the less I like them.
4. I'm not saying that you should buy one over the other, but do a lot of comparison and research, especially comparing longevity.
Just my own biased opinion.....

I have a Cub Cadet M-60 Tank and absolutely love it! I put over 500 hours since I've bought it and not one issue with it yet.

I can tell you this much.... you get what you pay for. I have a ZT26 Pro series and the quality of the build is exceptional. Cuts great and handles good. Only downside is its heavy. I have heard good things from the CAT owners on the motor, its a common block.
And its cool to think the co owners are Willie Nelson and Toby Keith. They have alot of sponsers as well.

I had a chance to look them over at the fair last summer. That is the only time ive ever even heard of them till now. I kept drooling over the Cat powered one but the more I looked it over the less I liked it. It had plastic pullys on the hydros and everything was belt drive on it. It looked like a good idea made cheaply. I dont know though maybee they have other models that are better put together and maybee they work and last longer than I would suspect the plastic and belts would but I would look at the Dixy Choper posted or other brands.

I have had Scag commercial mowers, so I am bias to them. But I would not buy other than scag, my Turf Tiger had the Kawi 27hp vtwin. not the dsl.
I mowed with the Kubota zd27, 60 inch and 72 inch, dsl. I preferred the 60 with that engine.

I've operated a few Kubotas and they are very nice machines IMHO.
Never been around a small Cat diesel, smallest cat I've worked on is the 3406.
