Case 480D backhoe concern
I am currently using a 480D Case Backhoe, I believe around a 1985/86 or so, and have been using it to lift with for a while now.(its my F-I-L's) anyway, about 4 weeks ago I blew the RF hyd. line that goes into the lower portion of the loader lift(pressure line?), before that it was doing great. Anyhow. I removed the line, trimed it back, reinstalled the end, and put the line back on. Refilled her with a few gallon hyd fluid, and ok it works again.
Until recently, I have tried picking things up with the loader and had it start bypassing immediatly, ok too heavy. But now its to the point where the bucket will go aprox 8-9' in the air, actually lifting the load in the air, but wont go any higher(load will lift aprox 4' off the ground with chains). These are the same items I had no trouble lifting much higher in the past. I can curl the bucket up(chains hooked at the top) and it will continue to lift the item though
I just dont understand why it will go only so high and seems to start bypassing? Im not talking about huge amounts of weight either. Fluid levels are good, no signs of air in fluid, etc. I was told there is two filters, a screw on under the hood(its new) and a wire filter near the hyd tank, can this be a concern?(never been cleaned)
Thanks for the help.

Did you fill it with the correct fluid? a thinner fluid will have less lifting power, thicker/ cooler fluid will have more...... mixing incompatible fluids can have bad effects as well.

Well I just got a general "hydraulic" fluid. I do want to pull it all down again, and replace it with the spec fluid needed, along with doing both filters, if it does have an intank...
