Canadian Tar Sands Environmental catastrope
What's going on up there ?
http://www.livescience.com/38452-tar...l-blowout.html
Doesn't appear that many are talking about this happening, or even admitting it's a problem ?
You guys who live up there got the scoop?

Sounds serious to me but I guess in the scheme of things it is just a drop in the bucket.
Thirty acres out of an area as huge as the Boreal Forest is pretty small and luckily they are able to contain it (sort of).
Not saying its not a disaster but I can understand how they can downplay the 4500 barrels compared to 257,000 barrels (Exon Valdez) and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill ((162 thousand barrels per day (about five million barrels)).
In 1989 we got involved with picking up oil soaked birds. What a mess. Nasty way for a critter to die so even a small amount of spill bugs me.

all quiet up here. First I've heard of it. I wish they'd tighten up the regulations on this but just like anything political theres probably alot of palm greasing going on...

As of today it's "contained". I've worked as a contractor for CNRL for a long time and that generally means its still leaking but they've caught up to the point it won't get worse. Quite the spill nonetheless.

Thanks for the update, fellas.
After seeing this report, your little oil spill is nothing compared to what the global climate and atmosphere is in for over the next several decades
http://www.globalresearch.ca/fukushi...inable/5345754
Unless someone can come up with an ingenious idea to stop that leak, it appears that the world as a whole will be affected, and I (and others as well) fear what the end results may actually become of it. If so, we're all screwed... everyone, everywhere.
With reading that...... Enjoy your day !
