DCR-HC48 ($350) (25x optical, but a better resolution i think) (most likely this one I will get if its a sony)

Is the difference in a picture between these 2 camera, noticible?

I am willing to spend up too $500 on the camera, but I can't seem to find anything better then the dcr-hc48 in my opinion.

Could someone please compare these for me, and let me know what you think.

Thanks

Mine is the Sony DCR-HC21 handycam. It was right around 500. It is great. The ones you listed are very similiar to it. Also get the extended warranty if you can, just to be sure. I've had mine for 1 1/2 years and haven't had a bit of trouble at all. Its great.

Here is a link I found that compares a few of them.. check it out.

I purchased a Sony Mini DVD with 40x optical zoom and took it back for the 20x optical zoom. I have found the lower the optical zoom the better it works in low light. Both the 40x and 20x have issues in low light. I have never had any issues with Sony camcorders until I purchased the new Mini DVD's.. The camera works good. But the low light recording is less than desirable....

Good luck....

I'm thinking about buying the JVC 30GB camcorder for my wife as a mother's day present.
