Buried my dog today

I put my Neopolitan Mastiff in the ground tonight. She was such a sweetheart and will be missed by the whole family. Here's to you Effie...salute.

And I'd also like to brag on my oldest son (13yrs). He helped me bury her and acted with such maturity that I was shocked. He kept consoling his mother and younger brother and was worried about everyone but himself. Makes me proud.

What a bitter-sweet time. You SHOULD be very proud of your son. And equally sad about Effie. I know how it feels to lose a family member and friend like that.

Man, that really is a sad thing, but as Scott said, you should be very proud of your son. Good job on raising him right, dad.

I am very sorry for the loss of your family member. She must have been tried and true to let you son lay across her like that, but that is what Love and loyalty gives.

Kids naturally accept life and death, You did real good Dad.

God Bless.

I also feel for you. On another thread I was just discussing how much I missed our dog and had refused to get another one because of the heartbreak. Glad your son is such a help during this sad time.

My deepest condolences on your loss, I know how tough it is to lose a good dog like that. The good news is you got a new MAN in the household, sounds like he passed his trial by fire...I know you are very proud of him. No one ever said it would be easy being a man, some never really make the grade and he already has at 13

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...I found out today that my other Mastiff probably has bone cancer. He's been favoring his left leg for a couple of weeks now and I chalked it up to arthritis but the vet has blown that out of the water. He's going in for a biopsy Thursday and if he does have cancer I'll have him put down because he doesn't need to suffer. Vet said he'd have 6 mths but it would be a horrible, painful 6 mths. The kids are handling it better than me but Old Charter is helping me out. I'm afraid to ask what else can happen...
