Build to Boneville on Truck U TV

Has anyone seen the build up of the Ford on Truck U Tv on the speed channel. I know these episodes aired a year or so ago but i have watched all of the build up episodes. The guy took a 6.0L powerstroke on a superduty chassis and put a mid to late 70 ford f-150 body on it. His goal was to reach 150MPH in a certain distance. This should have been easy to do i would think as seeing as some diesel trucks run well over 100Mph in the 1/4 mile. The fella doing the build up put alot of aftermarket parts on the truck like ats turbo, trans, gearvendor overdrive, injectors, intake, head studs and the list goes on. Well yesterday the program showed the truck making passes and the best he got out of it was 109 or 113 mph. He was only at 98 MPH at the 1/2 mile marker. The guy who did the build said that he was having some mechanical problems with the truck and believed he had a bad injector thus giving him the problems. I hope for his sake that is the problem becuase it looked like he had alot of money and time invested in the rig. Just curious if anyone else has seen this build up and what their opinions were on it.

Saw it, and my truck would give him a run for his money...you would have thought they would have taken it to a dyno at some time before handing it back to the owner. Oh well...back to Truck U?

They did do alot of dyno time but no street time. The Truck U crew i think only did minor work to the rig, some suspension work, and a few bolt on parts, but most of the work was done by the guy who was racing the truck. I just have to wonder why the 6.0L with all of its know problems, maybe it was more of a challange then getting a cummins to go that fast.

You just can't run Bonneville on stock gearing. You need much taller gears to get speed at any distance.

I think they put 3.42 gears in it plus the extra overdrive unit.

The shows alright, they seem to do more talking about how there going to do things then actually showing the viewers what they are doing, i deff. think the shows on the powerblock on spike tv are more informative and show how to do things better.

Stacey David is the only one I can stand to watch...He works on some cool stuff!

98 MPH in a 1/2 mile huh? I think I've had my King Quad close to that down the road.
