Time to go, and just in time I might add. Crashes starting back up for the afternoon commute. Just had a report of a fatal involving a salt truck. Had another patrol car hit yesterday. I don't even take the freeway home anymore...

Nice to have alternate routes. We're not that lucky. One way in, same way out.

So who is the local Knot tying expert in here?

I snapped my winch rope plowing last night. Of course I have plenty of plowing to do so for the night I just used a bowline to keep me going but I'm sure there is a better know for re-attaching the hook to my winch line. Preferably one that isn't too bulky and doesn't degrade the strength of the line too much either. A simple fisherman's knot or a surgeons knot look promising but perhaps there is something better.

I think I can re-braid the eye splice when I get a minute but for now I don't have the time to sit down and do it.

Well, to all you slackers that didn't do anything but whine and cry, you'll be glad to know I worked 12 hours here at the nuc plant keeping your lights on and I'm going home now. Got to oversee a PM on an EMD 20 cylinder, gotta love it. So there!!!!!!!!
Another day, another 59 cents.........

Well, Hopefully he'll be along and give out some good advice. Looks like an anchor hitch might fit my bill as well.

I used to know lots of cool knots when I was younger but I quit using them and forgot a lot..... Then the synthetics came out and some of the knots I used to use weren't really good on them. Now I'm having to re-learn things.......

I is here, the bowline is a great utility knot that I use all the time. If you want to use a great load bearing knot that is gentle on the line then go with a figure 8. If you are splicing 2 pieces of rope together then it would be a figure 8 follow through, if you just need a loop at the working end then a figure 8 on a bight would be my choice. Both knots can be easily untied even after being heavily loaded.

A new rope is only $65 but I might as well TRY to fix it. I am a 1st genner and we don't just buy new parts.........

I know, but I just can't help myself when it comes to harassing you.Our Tractor Supply down here was having a sale on most of their winter stuff. Carhart jackets were in the mid 60 dollar range. Might check up there and find a deal.

Isn't that partially because they don't make most of those parts anymore?

Evening folks.
