Seriously... Bergen Norway. I would have to be on a local's salary to afford it. most things are close to twice the cost, diesel is a bit more than twice the cost as the lower 48.
Northern Germany would be my next choice. Summers are a bit warmer, but not bad most of the time.

1861 - The U.S. federal government levied its first income tax. The tax was 3% of all incomes over $800. The wartime measure was rescinded in 1872.
1864 - During the U.S. Civil War, Union forces led by Adm. David G. Farragut were led into Mobile Bay, Alabama.
1884 - On Bedloe's Island in New York Harbor, the cornerstone for the Statue of Liberty was laid.
1914 - The first electric traffic lights were installed in Cleveland, Ohio.
1944 - Polish insurgents liberated a German labor camp in Warsaw. 348 Jewish prisoners were freed.
1953 - During the Korean conflict prisoners were exchanged at Panmunjom. The exchange was labeled Operation Big Switch.
1964 - U.S. aircraft bombed North Vietnam after North Vietnamese boats attacked U.S. destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin.
1969 - The Mariner 7, a U.S. space probe, passed by Mars. Photographs and scientific data were sent back to Earth.
1974 - U.S. President Nixon said that he expected to be impeached. Nixon had ordered the investigation into the Watergate break-in to halt.

1998 - Marie Noe of Philadelphia, PA was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, accused of smothering eight of her children to death between 1949 and 1968. Noe later received 20 years' probation.

i.e. the sales tax on a new vehicle is 100%. then you buy your tag based on engine displacement. there is a tax on anything bad for you. sugar being the highest.
the other side of that, health care is free.

Talked to the doc today. Going to get another shot or two in the arm on Monday and hopefully I will be in for the EMG and MRI next week. Our health care is good care when it happens. Only downfall is that it takes too long for some stuff.
However, if we could take what we have and merge some of it with some of what is available elsewhere, we might have something real good.
Time to be a lounge mode sloth. Last day of vacation today.

Sorry for the absence. Just getting back in from the ranch - - no Inet out there. Pounding, pulling wires, knocking down walls, installing windows and doors - - lots done. Got the rough in inspections on AC, electric and plumbing today - - came home beat. DUH, why am I doing all this - - DUH - - let someone else do it.
Didn't have time to read all posts for catch up - - glad something is starting to roll for you, Scotty - - bout time.
OK, off to beddy bye - - tired, sore, but fed and happy. Lots of progress.
