Well, I WENT to bed. Just didn't stay there for long. Power went out at 0145, so I got the generator all started and running, then checked out the property for any damage, (wind, lightening). Found everyone around us had power, it was just us. Called electric company, then stayed up to meet them and let them in gate. They actually came out and made a repair at 0430, I couldn't believe it! Got back to bed around 0600. I don't know why I even tried, wide awake at 0630.

Today is Friday, July 29th.

On this day in 1773 - The first schoolhouse to be located west of the Allegheny Mountains was built in Schoenbrunn, OH. T-Rad graduated, (YES! He actually graduated!), from this school in 1785!

1914 - The first transcontinental telephone service was inaugurated when two people held a conversation between New York, NY and San Francisco, CA.

1957 - Jack Paar began hosting the "Tonight" show on NBC-TV. The name of the show was changed to "The Jack Paar Show." Paar was host for five years.

1958 - The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was authorized by the U.S. Congress.

1967 - Fire swept the USS Forrestal in the Gulf of Tonkin. 134 U.S. servicemen were killed.

1985 - General Motors announced that Spring Hill, TN, would be the home of the Saturn automobile assembly plant.

1998 - The United Auto Workers union ended a 54-day strike against General Motors. The strike caused $2.8 billion in lost revenues.

1999 - Mark O. Barton killed nine people and wounded 13 others in a shooting rampage in Atlanta, GA. He wife and two children had been found bludgeoned to death earlier in the day.

2005 - Astronomers announced that they had discovered a new planet larger than Pluto in orbit around the sun.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Is a sleeping bag a nap sack?

A week and a half already? Wow, really. I thought it had only been ten or eleven days. (but who's counting?)

It's bad enough they turned it off at that hour let alone came back out at 0430 to turn it back on. They really must have wanted you to pay the bill.

Made it all the way into Maryland before we had our first breakdown. Just pulled into a rest area and found that we have diesel running down the side of the engine block. Can't afford that with the prices these days so fixing to change into my grubbies and crawl in there to see what's leaking. Of course, that means crawling over the batteries and under the air filter to even try to see what's happening. I wish that this were as simple to access as my 1st gen.

Mornin' all,

good extra scoops helped. Got some of the ph00 to make the iced mocha, be good if Scotty didn't sneak in on stealth mode. Bobs on top shelf of fridge so he don't have to bend to get it.

Off to the the registration tag for the truck. Title came in the mail yesterday after 10 weeks and several phone calls.

After that to pick up an Rx that us RETRO dudes need to keep the juices flowing.

I figgered that D H was for Dead Head. UK Un Known.

Time to walk the Dragon and do rounds.
Pop Quiz Question. Who said "Never laugh at a live Dragon"

Have a good un, keep out of trouble and don't break nothing.

Guess you guys got it good. Berrien and Lenawee counties both lost all LEIN, Phones and 911 this morning.

It wasn't all that bad except we got 2" of rain in about an hour. A vine caused the problem, crawling up a guide wire and shorting out the transformer. We've been calling about it for a year now, the same with the main feed lines that run thru trees in the paddocks, but nothing is ever done. The forestry guy comes out, looks at everything, says, "Yep, that's a problem", then we never see anyone again.

Couldn't just water Jake, then take him to water the vine? Back when I had my Blue Healer, Cody, he could kill ANYTHING.

Well, look like it (hopefully) was the #4 injector line that worked loose. Of course, that's the one behind the air inlet horn and under the air intake tube so you can't even see it let alone tighten it. Pulled the entire air filter assembly out and then I could at least see it.
Been awhile since I greased my armpits but this job did that for me. Off to take a shower in Simple Green and then back on the road.

This place smells like Pelosi!!!! What have you all done to it while i was gone?!?!

How's everyone been?

New position at work is going just fine, not much OT but I've been busy most days afterwork. All the storms we've been having late are keepin the line crews busy at work. I've been doing service work training... shutting off electric services , turning on electric services, and maintenace work. I have to goto the company training center next week for a class on the computer system in the company trucks. Eventually i'll have to go to basic electricity/single phase classes, and a poly phase class.

Wife is doing well, her cake business she has on the side is starting to take up alot of her weekend time. She's got a pretty decent customer base now.
