Morning. Or is it still good night? Could not sleep, so am up answering emails and getting my news fix from around the world. Just answered an email to my oldest sister in South Africa and now going to answer one from my youngest sister in Australia. Guess you can say I belong to an international family - South Africa, Australia, Canada and Mexico. China soon to be added to the mix.

Did a quick read of the news, trivia, sarcasm and general pokings from last week. Sounds like too many of you will fit very well with this weeks breakroom title. I am NOT included in that. It also sounds like quite a few of you need to be less masochistic and take a lot more care of yourselves, plus need a zillion dollars in medical aid. Undecided as to whether to be sorry for some of you, or to laugh at your antics and ailments.

Re the bike riders. Would love to ride a bike down here, (been riding since I was about 9) but have decided against it as the motorists are way too inconsiderate of bikers and it is definitely too dangerous. On the other hand, many bikers here are totally nuts too, especially when they persist in passing on my right on a one lane street. Here is an unusual story from a few days ago:
VICTORVILLE, Calif. (Associated Press) -- A California motorcyclist rear-ended a minivan and was hurled through a window into the back seat but was not injured.

Investigators say the minivan driver made a turn after Thursday's collision and drove to his Mojave Desert home a half-block away before discovering he had a new passenger.

Callers reported the crash at 3:46 p.m., saying the motorcycle crashed and slid under the minivan on a Victorville street and the biker couldn't be found.

Investigators say the minivan slowed or stopped to make a turn and the motorcyclist slammed into the vehicle.

San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Karen Hunt says the minivan driver had already committed to the turn and drove a short distance to his home. He then discovered the motorcyclist in the back seat.

Why is there no coffee in the breakroom? I thought that was the job of whomever started the weekly breakroom? Find the encrusted pot, sand blast it, steam clean it and then brew up a new batch of so-called coffee. Lots of Italian Coffee Shops in my area, so bought a couple of gallons of their fancy brew and have left it on the counter to give you a taste of real coffee. Scotty or Fiver can brew up some Ph00. Also left a few real Mexican tacos and other stuff for appetizers. Leave some for the late risers. The green colored ones are the hottest, so give one to the dragon when he (she? wakes up.

Got stuff to do, so outa here.

See the first quote above. 'No matter the job, big or small, do it right or not at all'!

Morning all.

Today is Sunday, July 24th.

On this day in 1847 - Mormon leader Brigham Young and his followers arrived in the valley of the Great Salt Lake in present-day Utah.

1866 - Tennessee became the first state to be readmitted to the Union after the U.S. Civil War.

1929 - U.S. President Hoover proclaimed the Kellogg-Briand Pact, which renounced war as an instrument of foreign policy.

1933 - U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt gave his fourth "Fireside Chat."

1948 - Soviet occupation forces in Germany blockaded West Berlin. The U.S.-British airlift began the following day.

1956 - Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis ended their team. They ended the partnership a decade after it began on July 25, 1946.

1969 - The Apollo 11 astronauts splashed down safely in the Pacific Ocean.

1974 - The U.S. Supreme Court unanimously ruled that President Nixon had to turn over subpoenaed White House tape recordings to the Watergate special prosecutor.

1998 - A gunman burst into U.S. Capitol and opened fire killing two police officers. Russel Weston Jr., was later ruled incompetent to stand trial.

2003 - The U.S. released pictures of the bodies of Odai and Qusai Hussein. The two died during a battle with U.S. forces near Mosul, Iraq.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
What does OK actually mean? (I have an answer for this if anyone wants to know!)

Coffee is ready. Some strange smelling Italian stuff this morning!

As sexy as the payments?

Morning gang,

Been out of touch since last Sunday and no time to read last weeks rantings and ravings. Guess I will just muse over what might have happened and be surprised when/if I find out - - like Scotty wanting them to cut on him some more. What kind of attitude is that, big boy.

Tired and sore - - been out at the ranch since last Sunday tearing down walls, building new ones, putting on siding and tyvec and answering 5,254 questions - - MR KING, what shall I do here - - MR KING, where do you want this or do you want it at all. Chased a coyote out of the barn, played with a cute 5' king snake and worked my fanny off 'til I am beat. Put the RV out there and living there thru the week. Lonely at night - - just me, the dog and the coyotes howling. Got a huge amount done this week, should be ready for mechanical and framing rough in inspections by end of next week. Not bad for adding almost 1000 sf of new building in just two weeks.

OK, off to church - - leaving again for the wilds for another week. No TV, no inet, only cell. At least the blonde came out for two nights to make sure I was eating. LOL

Have a great week, gang - - miss being here to harrass you.

Bob

We miss you too, Fiversuperman. should have chased the snake and played with the coyote , warm friends make good companions. hope your dog is not a coyote sized snack....

ahhhhh, love construction. not the 100 degree heat though.

scott, didya win the combat firefighter challenge? heheh or just the battle with the kids....

hey Don!!! suppitchyall.

great day yesterday with son, babysitting dog joke went well with friends (put pink toenail polish on with pink t shirt "I survived camp keller")
shot my 1923 .22 and sighted in the scope- first time scope for me (except 1970s night vision)
and got a scuba call to hook up tow hooks to a car that a guy deliberately sent over the 900 ft gorge in a state park. a few hooks for the frame, some for the engine and we had to look for the tranny. the ecological damage (into a river) is steep as the haz mat guys were scrubbing rocks. figure a 50,000 dollar cost for a 3,000 dollar car and one idiot.

shorts, one chopstick short is never a good thing.

have no idea what I am gonna do today.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, I will have internet once I get there, so will drop by every now and then to stir the pot, torment, poke, tease, admonish and even occasionally maybe provide some insightful ponderings to the denizens that lurk around here. Have been warned that some sites are blocked and others for no apparent reason are blocked intermittently. Wonder if DTR will be on the blocked list? If the Chinese read the Breakroom, then in all probability the site will be blocked and I will be deported.

I'm surprised they can figure out what goes on in here. They are so easily confused.
