Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure the 1/2 hour you spent on the motorcycle and 1/2 hour standing around on the weights was just as difficult for you as thinking hard for 5 minutes!

'bout bunkie time.

Had good day with sister. Nice lunch at the New York Deli, a couple of quick errands an in to the pool. Solar heated to 90 F. Back home picked up BBQ for dinner.

Hat you gotta win when there is money on the firing line. Make it pay off.

Cincy, good luck on the farm deal.

Wannabe your hubby got a lot of sense, not coming to Texas in the heat. Only 5 counties in the entire state are not under a burn ban. In the 100's most days this week. Wheeew. You got a lot done, keep ya out of trouble?

Scotty, about time things are getting a bit better for you. Get that arm in shape.

Jumping it to bed and beady eyes about to clang shut.
Have a good un.

I'm not much of a gambler... I only bet when I know I can win. There is always a faster gun...

Flatlanders!

Morning all.

Today is Wednesday, August 10th.

On this day in 1821 - Missouri became the 24th state to join the Union.

1846 - The Smithsonian Institution was chartered by the U.S. Congress. The "Nation's Attic" was made possible by $500,000 given by scientist Joseph Smithson.

1914 - Austria-Hungary invaded Russia.

1921 - Franklin D. Roosevelt was stricken with polio.

1927 - Mount Rushmore was formally dedicated. The individual faces of the presidents were dedicated later.

1944 - U.S. forces defeated the remaining Japanese resistance on Guam.

1945 - The day after the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan announced they would surrender. The only condition was that the status of Emperor Hirohito would remain unchanged.

1949 - In the U.S., the National Military Establishment had its name changed to the Department of Defense.

1954 - Construction began on the St. Lawrence Seaway.

1977 - The "Son of Sam," David Berkowitz, was arrested in Yonkers, NY. Berkowitz, a postal employee, had shot and killed six people and wounded seven others.

1988 - U.S. President Reagan signed a measure that provided $20,000 payments to Japanese-Americans who were interned by the U.S. government during World War II.

1994 - U.S. President Clinton claimed presidential immunity when he asked a federal judge to dismiss, at least for the time being, a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Paula Corbin Jones.

1995 - Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were charged with 11 counts in the Oklahoma City bombing.

1995 - Michael Fortier pled guilty in a plea-bargain agreement. The agreement required that he testify for the prosecution in the Oklahoma City Federal building bombing trial.

2006 - In Great Britain, 24 people were arrested for their roles in a plot to blow up airliners traveling between Britain and the United States. In Pakistan, 7 people were arrested for their roles in the same plot.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Why do we wash bath towels? Aren't we clean when we use them?

Morning team.

I'm a little sore this morning. But not bad. Spent time in the garage yesterday building a little dolly cart for my tombstone....my Lincoln 225, not my actual tombstone. I don't want that rolling around behind me. Hope to finish that today. Needs to get some swivel casters too.

Sunday it was 92* and 90% humdidity. I was making repairs to the driveway and coating it. In an hour, my jeans were dark blue, dripping from the cuffs and sneaks were squishing

You know what I hear??

Glad you're getting settled in. I felt the same as you when we moved up to WA state. I couldn't see the horizon unless I was standing on the beach. Did you find any good eatin' places?
