break even time - idle or shutoff and restart?
I've always heard it's better to let a diesel idle rather than shut off and restart, but what's the time frame for our trucks?
so what is the fuel consumption for idling vs restarting?
if I am gonna be less than 5, leave running, or more than 15 mins, shut off and restart?
just one of those stupid things i wonder about

It also depends on what the outside temp is. If it's below freezing it'll take less time for the turbo to cool down, but on the other side of the coin, your engine will cool down to the point where the fuel will burn incompletely and leave carbon deposits all over the cylinder walls and injectors...bad stuff. But you're in Florida...that shouldn't matter.
