Our company buys Hytest brand boots, they seem to hold up for about a year or so. I dont know of any place to buy them other than off the shoe truck that comes by.
I have had a pair of Georga boots in the past and they held up well and are comfortable.

I have worn Redwings for over 30 years. Jobs ranging from the oilfield to sawmills to welding. Can't beat 'em. J.C. penny's made a steel toe lace up years ago that was a great boot. I don't know if they still make them. The only bad thing about them was they were hard to break in.
Those little rubber protectors for steel toe boots are great. Worth every dime. (about 15 bucks). Thats were mine usually go first.

Yeh, lace ups are more comfortable, and save the ankles. When I wuz working the co. in our safety equipment gave us steel toed, rubberized knee high pull up boots. Had rite size, but very uncomfortable. In winter very cold feet.. But now that is history.

I guess Redwing would be my choice for a real work boot. JMO - JKE

I've been wearing Wolverine's (Calf hight) all winter and love'em. Wolverine's, Cat, Redwing, Harley Davidson and Hush Puppy are all made right behind me here in Rockford.

The only thing I hate about Doc's is all the mud the soles retain. When the mud dries up, you had better be carrying a broom with you when you try to sneak through the kitchen becuase your too lazy to unlace them......

Another vote for Red Wings, I am currently wearing Irish Setter Elk Hunters (made by Red Wing) I have also owned about 3 pair of Carolina Logger boots that lasted me over 20 years. I still have the 2nd and third pairs. The Elk Hunters are the most comfortable, weatherproof leather boots I have ever owned. They held up to 7 days trekking through snow and mud in the Bitterroots in Montana and are also great everyday boots, warm waterproof and comfortable. They also kept my feet comfortable walking on concrete all day at the Harrisburg Outdoorsman show.
