well ima pass this on from a story a friend just heard from his White African American Friend.

My friends friend is 18 and just out of high school. He is south African, and is white. On his college application, he checked off African American, expecting to get his special privileges. They turned him down because he was WHITE. Last time he checked in with him. he was trying to get the NAACP and the ACLU to back him, and it wasn't going good.

I do not judge solely on color, but living closer to Philadelphia and cotesville(bad local city) has forced me to watch my back around some people.

Now don't get me wrong, i will not look on you any diff. bud. you do drive a Cummins.

Then there is someone like me, probably like 75% of the people in this country, I am so mixed between Indian, Irish, Scottish, French, Black and most of all.....TEXAN!!!!!! We are all another breed apart from one another, that we are all the same...... Too bad so many people can't see out of both eyes in order to understand that!!!!!

Race means absolutely nothing to me or my hubby. As far as we're concerned, unless someone give us a reason to dislike them then we are fine with them.

I'll treat you differently for one reason, and one reason only, your attitude. You could be purple for all I care, if your a good person, your aces in my book. It maybe an old school approach to people now a days, but I was brought up to judge people soley on their character. Me being a "white american" I've been the victim of stereotyping too, driving my big diesel pickup truck, bopping out to country music, I've been called a few negative words myself. While I know its much less common for someone to pull up to my truck and yell profanities, it does happen to me, and to be honest it hurts. But I know I'm a good person, and I'm sure you are too, let that truth run through your head, and know what goes around, eventually comes around.

I gotta be honest with ya here, if you pulled up along side me at a light being asian and driving a cummins my first thought would have been, "dam he's driving the wrong vehicle", as I said it would have only been a thought.

Well, even though I (we) may not agree with them, everyone is allowed to believe what they want and think what they want, that's one of the great things about being American! Thanks for all the positive remarks from everyone! And for the marines comment, I was just poking fun! I have nothing but the utmost respect for them, working side by side with with mother green and her killing machine has taught me a lot about them!

Yea, being called "white" is a bit of an insult.....guess what can be insulting is a matter of perspective...there seem to be a lot of people who think since we dont wear feathers and breech-clothes anymore, that indians are extinct and dont exist anymore. So being called "white" is being told " you dont exist as a people" kinda thing.....kinda being discounted or written off

Yea, we stopped using bows and arrows and chewing hides a few days ago.
There are alot of folks who, upon hearing you are "an injun", immediatly assume you live ina teepee and say "ugh" and "how".......I've actually had people try to explain to me that a camera wont steal my soul when they take my picture, and similar things. Thinking about it, its kinda like the Geico/Caveman commercials situation...almost funny, or would be if they werent dead serious about it....

My G Grandmother and GG grandmother are both Cherokee. My sister-in-law is also Cherokee. Most of her family still chooses to live on the reservation in Oklahoma. They go back for the pow-wow every year and have chosen to have their kids brought up knowing their culture and heritage. Both of my nephews have typical cherokee names. I like it when my sister-in-laws Mom comes up for Thanksgiving with all of us. She brings traditional Indian foods that are deeeeeelicious. I still shoot a bow and arrow and I gave up chewing hide for chewing jerky.

We all have ideas that are based on experiance. Thats human nature, be it racist thoughts or religous, or any thing else. The key question is how we act and compose ourselves with those ideas. I will be the first to tell or listen to a ethic joke. Now that being said I dont harbour ill will to anyone unless they have asked for it. If others want to tell jokes about a 50/50 mix of indian and irish, ill even laugh if its funny.

I was one of those 9 and I just did it to be facetious, so really there are only 8 ignorant people who voted.

You can still ban me if you want to though. That way I can see what it's like to be discriminated against.

Personally, I think too much is made of the whole discrimination/prejudice bit. Just be who you are and don't worry what everyone else thinks about you. Whining and complaining about being discriminated against usually doesn't accomplish anything except bitter feelings towards you and more discrimination. If people would quit worrying so much about what color they are or what nationality they are or what gender they are and just focus on WHO they are then the whole world would be a lot better off.

There...that's my non-PC post for the day.
