did we get from Jesus being sacrificed for our sins and rising from his death, to rabbits that deliver unrealistically colored eggs? I don't get the 'connection'. And while we're talking about connections, why a rabbit? They don't lay eggs. As far as I know, they don't even EAT eggs

Scott, if you really wAnt to know , you'd have to study some European history going back to the 8th thru 11th centuries when Christianity was being introduced into Europe

In order to help the masses of ignorant and highly superstitious peasants accept this "new god" , many Druid and pagan rituals were "adopted" and redefined by the Christians
Most obvious tiday are the spring eggs which in Druidism represented the rebirth of life every spring . You can see how it was easy to transition that into representing the "rebirth " of Christ
The Christmas tree is the other big one that actually was a major Druid ritual, celebrated at winter solstice then adopted into the Christian faith.
It was a great way to " transition" a highly superstitious
Population to accept the new faith without abandoning things that were major fixture of thiier lives.

The only reason the Easter Bunny hides his eggs is because he doesn't want anyone to know he is sleeping with a Chicken

1918 - German fighter ace Manfred von Richthofen, "The Red Baron," was shot down and killed during World War I.

adopted father's ancestor was Captain Oswald Boelcke; Richthofen's instructor and great pilot on his own (First 'ACE'). I have a copy of his German uniform cuff title. neat handwritten stories. great quotes.

Glorious Easter!! yup Scottybro saw small cottontail hit by car-looked for the chocolate eggs, alas none. Easter services were super, full belly day with three family feeds. hubby towed his street strider bike thingy down for participants/great pics. yeah, lotta looks as we were both on motorcycles heh hehh. home at sunset, nice 300 mile ride. chiseled out of the road armour. rebuilt bike ran excellent.

NEFarm-what a cutie cuddle pup, Shorts was right-awesome companion. way to go!

He doesn't like to cuddle unless it's really cold out. Then he'll climb into bed with me til he gets warmed up, and head for his blanket in the corner. Usually plants his face in my armpit.

About 20 miles south of Erie. I'd have probably shot myself if I had had to grow up in a place like Philly.
Grew up right along I79 about 25 miles south of the I90 split. Always had the interstate nearby and used it regularly, now it's an hour away and I never use it. And prefer not to. Don't even want to think about going through Chicago, Cleveland, or Indianapolis, on the way back. I can avoid them all, but if I avoid Cleveland, I end up in Akron. I think Cleveland and Indianapolis are unavoidable as I want to swing down to Dayton to see my sister.

And I actually have some cash I could put in my wallet, but I am keeping it where I won't think about it, so I won't spend it.
