Re:Big Bend National Park

I have not been there personally, but my brother went out there and took his horse and trailer, pulled by his 01' 2500 Cummins. This is what he told me:

"The best views in the park are at the Basin. The Basin is about 10 miles from the Park Headquarters. It is a very steep and winding road, but any Dodge should be able to make it. ;D The South Rim hiking trail is very good and has spectacular views the higher you get. The South Rim trail goes up to about 7500 feet.

It cost $10 per vehicle to get into the park and that is good for a week. You can come and go out of the park as long as you have the sticker they give you in your window.

There is a store called the Stillwell Store about 25 miles from the park headquarters. It is north of the headquarters toward Marathon, then turn right on road 2627 (only paved road there) about 1 mile outside the park. Once you turn on this road the store is about 6 miles. They have showers and some food supplies."
