Bass Pro Shops anyone?
So the other night they opened a Bass Pro Shops at Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga, just down the street from my house. Tried to go inside and look around but there was a 3-hr wait to get inside Decided I go back some other day.
So, anyone been inside one? Pretty cool? I hear this one is a bit different than most. It's in its own building covering 5 acres if I remember right. I think I heard it's the first one in California, also. Just thought I'd see what you guys thought about it.
Here's a pic of the store (sorry its so small):

Their stores are pretty dang cool. A lot like Cabelas. I myself am a cabelas shopper, except when it comes to my bow, tuning, accessories. I use a local outfitter. I think cabelas carries a little better quality products, i am not a fan of the Red Head gear at Bass Pro, JMO. I have been to the headquarters in MO and a store in FL. The cabelas South of Detroit was phenominal, best outdoor store I have experienced. I also have been to the cabelas in campo, az it was ok. the boise one kinda sucks, it is an old costco building, I think it was pretty lame they didn't build one of their super stores. anyway, no more talk, antleope season is around the corner and if i talk about huntin anymore i may start salivating.
wait a fews days until the novelty wears off, then take the kids, they will love it.

Its pretty cool, but once youve seen one, youve seen them all.
Its like a Cabelas(if you have any of those there too)
We have had one in my area for a few years now, ive been there quite a few times, but most of the stuff is overpriced IMO.
It does have some novelty though, pretty cool layout inside...

No Cabelas around here. There's not much fishing nor hunting in this area so the best outdoor type stores are like Big 5 or Sports Chalet. We do have REI but that place is full of green yuppies. Pretty sad, huh?

I kinda figured you westcoast guys had more of those type of places, since there seems to be alot of outdoors stuff to do there. Its pretty cool having all that stuff in one place, but I guess because im used to it and have been in there tons of times(usually just looking), its not too exciting for me anymore. Still pretty neat though, lots of displays(animal), the one in Grapevine, Texas has live rattlesnakes, as well as fish, bears, etc
It also has a nice indoor gun range, little expensive to shoot, but nice facility.
Not sure if theyd allow that there in Californa

Just within the last year we had a Cabelas open 10 minutes from my house and a BPS about an hour away. I just checked out this BPS this week. Definitely different than Cabelas. Carry the same products roughly, but it is a nice variation at times. I like Cabelas a bit more.

We have one here in Katy Tx. about 5 minutes from my house. The prices started out pretty high until they realized the newness had worn off and everybody started going back to Academy for better prices. BPS prices then became fairly competitive.

I used to really enjoy bass pro until my wife started walking around trying to figure out which animals were males....
I have been to the Katy, Branson, and Tulsa, but Springfield is the ultimate (altho branson letting you test drive the boats is awesome). If you get a chance, visit the springfield store.

Not sure how many people actually went, but they were expecting 20,000 people opening night. The day after it opened, on my way to work in the morning there must have been 200 people waiting for the doors to open. Out of control.....
