Auto Choices Behind our Cummins

After reading the Cummins in Ford thread I wanted to start another poll. We all know of the weeknesses of the 47RE and 48RE autos that are behind our Cummins. There are many users out there that have spent thousands of dollars upgrading there trans to hold the hp they are making... The stock 47RE seems to give up at 300hp and the stock 48RE it looks like is doing better at 350hp... the stock Allison seems to start slipping at 375hp. I have ridden in many Duramax/Allison Combos and Cummins/47RE combos. I have to say that the shifting, feel, smoothness, gear ratios, and strenght have to all go to the Allison transmission. I have a standard but I would love to have a bombed Allison 5speed behind my Cummins.... What do yall think.

4R100 - Forgive my ignorance, but could you describe this one for me, please? Is this the Torque shift that Ford offers?

You forgot the torqshift Ford 5 spd. I've driven the Allison and the ford, and I like the ford 5 spd better

None of the above. My vote is for an Eaton Fuller six speed, aka Roadranger.

Ooooooppppsss, I thought 4R100 was the new Ford torque shift. If not, pull that lone little one vote out of there. I don't like the Allison after driving it compared to the Ford. That is a nice tranny if it just holds up. That Allison 1000 is nothing compared to the 3000 that was in my motorhome.

These results are interesting... maybe DC better hook up with Eaton Fuller or Allison.

I voted for the Allison but would really like to see an Eaton behind the Cummins, just to give GM a little competition with name brands. 4R100? I'm sure you meant the TorqueShift, though. I'm surprised someone doesn't start a business putting Allison trannies in Dodge Cummins trucks. It has to be do-able.
