ATV's
I'm thinking about buying a new ATV and am seriously looking at the Yahama Big Bear 400 4x4.
Does anyone have one or know much about them?

they rattle ?? .........
actually while I'm o here I'm gonna put a plug in for polaris too ......... I recently just bought a polaris ATP 500ho .......... I love it............only got 24hrs on it so far but it's been great......... but they are a heavy machine (738lb) and may not be what your looking for, I use mine for plowing snow and hauling loads (plus I'm a real big guy) and a big heavy quad with a 530lb payload capacity is great for that
for trail/deep mud riding I think a lighter quad would be better as you'd get more floatation from the same size tires and less power would be needed to push it around so it should get better fuel milage (my buddies 400lb honda 350 4x4 gets about twice the milage mine does and floats better on the same 26x12x12 tires)........
personally I don't think anybody build garbage quads anymore so pick the one that you like the look of and suits your needs the best .............

IMHO there are better choices than the Big Bear 400 Yamaha. Although the Big Bear is a proven workhorse it is an old design and a dated machine. The Kodiac 400 is only $300 higher and offers much more: water cooled engine, automatic transmission, 401cc versus 386cc engine, more towing capacity, spedometer, and full floorboards. I have used the Kodiac personally and have sold many of them (I am a Yamaha dealer) and they are highly reliable.

spreadthered and all,
I stopped at a Yamaha dealer today and looked around. I saw the difference between the Big Bear and the Kodiac your speaking of. After looking, I'll probably go with the 500 or maybe the Grizzley.
The dealer also carried Bombardier (sp). After what I had seen on TV, this was one big disappointment! They may be good machines, but all the plactic wrap was a little cheesy.
I also looked a the Arctic Cat, but they were a little pricey.
Since my old 62 Massey Ferguson, 3 cyl Perkins, is about dead, I want something I can pull a mower behind and hook some attachments to. I can buy the ATV and implements cheaper then a new tractor and.......I'll have something to play with!
Where is the dealership you work for? I live in Texas, but bought my last ATV in Colorado.

I've got a 2002 Grizzly and it's an awesome machine. It has IRS, the only Yamaha that does, and it rides very smooth. If you like to hot-rod as well, check out the Prairie 700...it's a rocket.
