One guy claimed atf is about a 10w30 oil. Any truth to that??

not sure about that, but i do know allison transmissions recomened fluids are atf or 15w40 diesel oil [it was that way before, but maybe not anymore]

well, if I'm feeling really brave I might just fill the whole thing with atf... It's not like I have a whole lot to lose on a motor that has low compression...
