Question ArmorAll OK on dashboard?

In the past ArmorAll was believed to promote cracks when applied to dashboards. Anyone know if that is still the case with the newer plastics being used in our dashes? What might be better--have heard of some using baby oil??

I use it sometimes. Haven't noticed any problems. The old dash material used to absorb the Armor All and I think after a time, would make the foam brittle and crack. Now that everything is solid plastic ... good to go.
Never heard of baby oil ... does it work ?

I've heard the same thing, but I still use it every so often. The only problem I have with it is the glare. Don't know if it is just me, but I have not found anything that gives a good clean shine but not the glare. I'm interested if anybody has any better ideas.

Tried the baby oil on the boat interior and on the vinyl top on the wifes car. Not for me. It seemed to collect more dust than anything else.

Thanks for the quick responses. I also heard the baby oil is bad about collecting dust/dirt. Believe I'll use the ArmorAll occasionally.

if corn oil comes from corn, olive oil comes from olives , where does baby oil come from???

Mother's Preserves protectant. No glare, sort of a satin type shine.

There's also a product called dash wax (can't remember the name of the co who makes it). You can get it at pilot.

Has anybody put ArmorAll on a painted dashboard? I am looking at repainting all of my interior plastic black, or maybe tan-anything but blue! I am thinking of using that krylon fusion paint (made for plastic) or maybe the mopar paint. But I am worried about the sun fading and screwing up the paint. Any thoughts on this?

I think you could paint the plastic, but you would have to use some sort of clear coating to seal it. Just clean all the plastic really good w/ some rubbing alcohol to get all of the ArmorAll off, or whatever was used on it.

My theory on paint is: If it doesn't wipe off your skin w/ a rag and it doesn't wash off w/ soap then it'll stick to ANYTHING!

I found a 3M marine vinyl and plastic protectant at Wallyworld, it worked great on my jeep soft top, Kinda like thick silicone liquid. It seems like anything you use can cause problems. Like putting water on chapped lips, good for a few minutes then it just dries and makes it worst.
