My wife works for Contra Costa County and apparently the Police and Fire are going to start a big push for everyone to put I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency) in your cell phone phonebook with the phone number of said contact.

During any emergency Police/Fire/Ambulance/Hospital will look for your cell phone and scroll your phonebook looking for the word ICE.

Just a heads up, seems like a great idea that some of our LEO's could pass on to their Publicity/Media departments if they don't already have this.

Have had it in my cell phone for a couple of years now. It is a good idea.
Got my wife, my sister, and a daughter we live with.

I gave my mom a hard time a while back when I went through her phone. Next to mine and my brothers names she had ''son'' and ''husband''next to my dad's. I asked if she was too old to remember who we were lol....she explained it was for this purpose.

Yep, I have always put Wife instead of her pre-married name (Michele), her name is Wife!

I guess it's a good idea, but anyone with any sence would know to call home, mom, dad, etc.

I called the number marked home on a cell phone I found. Worked perfectly to located the owner.

My wife and I both have done this. For those of you who label the contacts Hubby or Home etc... if someone was to steal your wifes purse. They would then have your debit cards and your number and could easily call acting as if they were in a hurry and say honey whats our pin number and empty your checking account. Say they only found your phone with the "home" contact number they could do a search and find your address and call to see if you were there then stop by and clean you out. I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist but you cant be too safe.

yeah heard about this a few years ago saw my mom had ICE in her phone and she explained it was for that purpose.. good idea i think, although im also with charliez ... someone calling home,mom,dad ect.
