Anyone else have a Gateway E2000 computer?
We got this a long time ago and it's a great computer except for the fact that it only came with a 20gb harddrive. We got a new 300gb harddrive but we cannot find the RED Drivers Disc that came with it when new and, of course, can't load all the needed drivers on it to make it work right. Apparently Gateway has been bought out and the new company has ZERO drivers available online for download.
So, if anyone has the RED disc that I could borrow I would pay for shipping both ways.....

If you are starting anew, and if you are mainly using it for internet, I would highly suggest getting Linux Ubuntu 10.4. IT will install and run much faster as yours is an older machine and windows is a resource hog. You can download it for free on the internet or go to Barnes & Noble or other book store and buy a magazine called Linux Format for about $15. It has a dvd with latest Ubuntu and thousands of free programs. Just pop the disk in the drive and it will set up everything for you including your internet connection and any printer you have connected. When it gets done installing, just click the firefox icon & your ready to go.

It IS hard to believe. The company that bought Gateway out NEVER answers the phone either. If you do a Google search you will find many posts from people in the same boat as I am....
As far as stacking the hard-drives, I was told that the computer would still be slow since the 20gb drive is still the primary...

I'm an IT guy, so I'm hoping this might help.
Gateway Configuration Checker (by serial number)
http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/dlcenter.asp
Enter your computer's serial number and you should be able to find the drivers for your system.
If this doesn't work try this:
Pop it open and check out the motherboard. It should be an Intel board, and most of these older boards will use a basic driver set you should be able to get from Intel's website. If you can't find the drivers, post up with the info that's printed on the motherboard around where it says "Intel". Once the operating system is installed it's a bit easier to find what drivers you need and go from there.
