anyone done oil pan gasket 95 Caddy SdV'le with Northstar
a friends 95 cadillac sedan de ville 32v northstar is leaking pretty bad.
Jiffy lube said it is oil pan gasket, i got a gasket from Chevy store for $30,
what can i expect?
ahve to lift motor?

It it one of the plastic gaskets witht he ruber inserts? If it is you will need to torque down with in/lb torque wrench. I can't remember what the torque numbers were though. Yes you may have to jack up the motor and to do this you will have to loosen a couple of motor mounts I think.

When I was at the dealer we always removed the engine because it was easier for us being that we liked to work on the engines. Other shops I have talked to their techs and because they are transmission speciallists they like to remove the transmission and then remove the engine oil pan gasket.
Uh, i called the lady and PASSED on this
will buy her an oil funnel instead & another 5 gallons of oil
look at this way, never has to have oil changed again!
