Its way kewl, not only tells you whats down there (nickle, dime, quarter, jewelry, beer can opener) it tell you how deep it is with relative reliability. Also detects gold, both nuggets and jewelry which actually makes a slightly different sound in the earphones.

Try Tesoro.
For the price you want to spend, you may want to look at the Tesoro`s. They are excellent relic hunting machines. I`ve been hunting for the last 8 years now and prefer the Shadow X5, but it cost a good bit more. I also have a Tesoro and Shadow X2 and love them all.

Looks like someone beat me to it. Let me know if you see anymore like that. I'm looking too. Thanks for the heads up!

You will probably need headphones if it doesn't come with them. Also takes 8 AAA bateries, which only last about 8 hrs, might want to get LI-ion rechargables.

I wish there weren't so many good detectors. I'm looking at the Minelab Explorer II (lil too rich for me), an xt-50 (or something like that) and a Whites XLT ( heard good things bout that too). I've got an old bounty hunter 840 that I never used and I put it up on ebay. I don't want to fumble around with anything w/o a screen.
