Any recommendations on metal buildings?

I am looking to build a metal building on my property to use as a shop, storage, etc. I would like to go 40x 60' with a concrete floor.

I have looked at Cleary(wood frame), Morton, Rhino, and a few others and I'm leaning toward the traditional metal building.

Any thoughts, input, or recommendations?

Morton buildings are real well built...Just make sure YOU specify 'STEEL FRAME and TRUSSES' not wood...unless you want wood...

I'm looking at Morton for an RV barn/shop as well. Can they supply steel frames and trusses? Everything I've seen of theirs is wood-framed.

I believe Morton can supply them. My old boss had 3 Morton buildings, one that was simply huge, he could put his tractor trailer in there, and he prob had 13 VW beetles and all kinds of tractors and stuff in there. I was very impressed with Morton.

Get 14' high doors. I got a 40' X 60' steel building about 10 years ago and am very satisfied with it except for the door height. I only got 12' and many times wished I had gone with the 14 footers. Mine is wood framed and I have had no problems in that regard. You might want to fork over the extra cash and get the insulation. That will be a big help in keeping the temps in check. I went with an in state builder that designed and built their own brand, they were more reasonably priced then the big name manufacturers.
What ever you decide on, you will wonder why you waited so long for one

Star Buildings... My family company does them. Not in Utah, but it will give you an idea...

Mueller has some good specials on for the size you want. I have intsalled their building without using the cutting torch. Morton is over priced and not competitive in the commercial world. JMHO.

Yes, but I'm putting up an RV barn/shop that has to complement a new home we're building insofar as siding, roofing, architectural elements, etc. are concerned. In my digging so far, that's where Morton seems to excel.

Ummm...Rusty, is this my thread or yours?

Mueller looks nice. I will have to have it rated for snow load so I'm probably looking at $10K for the kit.
I'm trying to keep it low lower profile even though I don't think code will be an issue based on the buildings around me.

I wonder what insulation, delivery, and concrete will run? Any ballpark numbers?

Mueller can do that. They can do just about anything you want. Give them a call. The smallest I've ever put up is 125 X 140. Very complicated design. Mueller fixed anything that was wrong. Quickly with no complaints. Very prompt with a man in the field, and very helpful. Probably better double that with todays steel prices. Make sure and get the 26 ga. panels

Last time I was quoted $20 Sq. Ft. Complete with insulation and 4" concrete.

A 40x60 (2400 sq. ft) $48,000.00

I was quoted $21,000 for 40X60. Building alone. Two 12' wide 16' roll up doors. One man door. Insulation. Gutter and down spouts.

Call General Steel, I hear they can save you a lot of money. Over the years I have learned one thing about metal buildings and that is that they are prone to roof leaks. Good luck.....
