Any paint and body detail guys?
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone has used the Mother's clay bar? I am just wondering if it works before I spend the money. Also, what kind of wax do you like to use? Thanks..jake

I have used it on my old truck to clean off the old wax and contaminates before waxing it before prom. VERY nice surface after you get done with it. It helps if you wash the vehicle with some dishwashing soap(dawn, etc) before hand to get most of the old wax off. My old boss told me about it, he's used it on everything from his VW beetles to his Kenworth. You HAVE to wax it afterwards though, it will strip off all wax.
I like to use Mother's pure carnuba(sp) wax, without the cleaner in it. Hard to find, I had to have a local hardware store order some so I could get it. Combining it with the clay bar kit, it works wonders, and will last a long time, especially if you do a good job on the wax job. On my current truck, I have used a few different brands of wax, to me the liquids don't last as long as the paste-type waxes.
EDIT: I don't know how particular you are about the finish on a vehicle, but it took me about 8 hours to get my truck like I wanted it to look for prom(the best it ever looked while I owned it, lol).

The " claybar " will also get all the waterspots off of your windows and windshield. You have been careful using one...if you every drop it on the ground, throw it away and get another one.

Haven't tried claybar. Someone told me you hafta be carfull and not rub to hard or long in one area. I usually wash truck with dawn original dish detergent and use TR3. It is suppoed to bond with the paint. A inport shop owner told me about it. Easy to use and looks good.

Awesome!! Thanks for the info fellas... I was wondering about this info for my Chevelle... I waxed it and it looks ok, but the paint feels bumpy and dirty. I think this may be the task for the weekend... Thanks again...Jake
