Any Honda generator techs - Need help!

I have a 4-5 year old Honda ec6500 generator with multiple plugs of various amp. ratings. The one that is a 4 prong 120/240 used to run my 240 volt well pump just fine, but has stopped working by immediatly tripping the GCFI main breaker. No other plugs do this when plugged into. I have used another generator to power my well pump using the same plug in connector and it works fine. I even removed the load from the well pump and just plugged the plug into the generator and it still tripped it. I thought that maybe I have a bad receptical and I replaced it with a factory honda one....still trips the GCFI.

Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

Can I easily disable the GCFI feature on this 240v plug for temporary use. I am working on getting grid power to a new construction site so this well pump thing is temporary.

you obviously have a short to ground somewhere in the wiring. It doesnt take a whole lot to trip a GFCI, a crack in teh insulation of a wire can be enough or dust in teh recepticle itself... small things can do it.
I would start with a detailed inspection of all teh wiring on that outlets circuit and go from there.

That indicates to me that you have a problem with either the plug itself or the wiring. More than likely though its the pump. There is prpbably an internal fault in the pump causing some of the current to go to ground (which is what trips the GFCI). I would clean and inspect all wiring, the plug, and the pump and see if anything pans out.
