A copperhead ?

Walking around in the evening I usually see one, actually if I'm looking I always find one to kill... I don't know if I've ever seen one over 30 inches or so.

I've also never seen a coral snake .

Well, if you find one over 40 inches let someone know because they aren't supposed to get much bigger than that.

Hognosed snake. Puts up a big bluff and will rollover and play dead if all fails. Tongue for some reason will never quite touch the ground and, in spite of being dead, rolls back over if you roll it back on its belly.

They eat toads and frogs and make pretty good pets.

They do taste a little like chicken, but chickens don't scare the snot out you when they sneak up behind you.

I came across a 33" Copperhead on Saturday by some fence I was replacing. Luckily, he found the blades of my 15' shredder before I found him on foot.

Never did find his buddy.
