Well, new frame: S-works Epic with Fox Forx Float. S-works is more frame than I need, but the only Epic frame you can get. I'm going to swap over the parts from my Enduro (anyone want a very slightly used 02 Enduro Expert frame?) and have one sweet ride!
It's actually my wife's Christmas present to me. I got her one, too.... Now, how many days until Chirstmas??

I have a "Pacific" mountain bike that I bought for getting around campus in college. I think it cost $300 from Target. Does that count?

Nice... I've read a couple different things on the frame and they all seem to refer to it as the "holy grail!"
I have a Trek Y3 and my fiance has a Trek 6000... Mountain Biking's a blast! ;D

What's the difference between riding a mountain bike and riding a dirt bike?
On a dirt bike it is fun to go uphill too ;D
Joel, I see you are in Arlington. McKinney is about an hour from there, depending on traffic. You probably already know this but: there is a place called Erwin Park off of 380 in McKinney that is very popular for mountain biking. When they were looking around the Metroplex for places to host Olympic events (in Dallas' losing bid to get the summer games here), I believe this was the venue that was selected for mountain biking.

Did you get the auto or the 5 speed with that? Is it an HO?
[/quote]
It's a 27 speed! And with the adjustable "Brain w/ IQ" shock, you could most definately call it an HO! The real engine, though, probably isn't an HO anymore... haven't been riding enough lately.

I was really serious into mountain biking, started going to some amature races and doing well. I bought an Amp Research B-4, which was actually designed by mercedes r&d department. About 2 months after I bought it I was in a car accident and jacked my back up. Its really painful to ride now, so I really have to pick my spots on when to ride.

I was big into mountain biking until I rode my friends yamaha yz 250. Now I race motocross and enduros. To me 50 horsepower hooked to 2 wheels in the dirt is more fun. I do ride my mtn. bike to stay in shape for the races and to get rid of the guiness I drink.

Same boat as Wilson. I have a Scott that my brother confiscated. Did some serious riding in the 90's, even entered a couple races while in Germany. Had a road bike too, Motobecane. Motorcycle crash ended all that though.

Don't know. It's been hanging upside down from the ceiling of my garage since I graduated college and started working. :
