GILLETTE, Wyo. - A teenage boy accidentally set himself on fire early Wednesday morning after allegedly trying to siphon gas from a firefighter's car.

Police first learned of the injury after a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy claimed that someone had thrown gasoline on the 17-year-old at the Common Cents service station and lit him on fire, said Lt. Rod Hauge.

The boy was taken to the hospital with second- and third-degree burns on his legs. Police were called to the hospital to investigate the incident and later learned that the 17-year-old spilled gas on his pants while siphoning. He then used a lighter to try to determine how wet his pants were and set himself on fire, Hague said.
Both boys have been ticketed with larceny, Hauge said.

Yup, gas burns. Quite fast too.

I found out just how close you can't get to a quart of gas you just poured n the ground while your lighting it. (D'oh!) I have a picutre of the result, and no I don't care to share. Took me two weeks of looking like, uh,.. I mean being a burn victim and all was well. Wow, that was hot for second there.

I hope that some of the 3rd degree burns were near that part of his anotomy, that if burnt, would hinder him from reproducing and polluting the gene pool.

I have been known to pour rather large amounts of highly flammable substances on things and ignite them , but i usually do it from a moderatly safe distance , and i don't pour the flammable substance on myself.

I remember lighting a fire once with a 5 gallon pail sitting on the top , the explosion fromt he pile of stuff i was burning , and the flammable substance , was large enough that i never did find that 5 gallon pail... it went a long ways up in the air...
