Another Camera Test - Opinions?

I'm doing another camera test. I reduced this quite a bit, but it's tonight at twilight. My old camera would have been nearly black without a flash, but with some experimentation, I think I got this one pretty well. It took about 10 tries to get the exposure right. Tell me what you think. Honestly.

It's a Canon Rebel II Digital SLR, 6.1 megapixel. This was a 55mm lens with a polarizer filter on it. The original raw jpg can be seen here:

Might give you a better idea of the image size. The raw TIFF is like 9MB.

That's awesome. We gave my dad a HP last Christmas and as you mentioned, that picture would have probably come out almost black. Even pictures inside the house come out very dark. Don't get me wrong, it takes some awesome pictures, but in a place where the lighting is dim, it's hard to get well lit pictures. That's an awesome camera you have there. The truck on the other hand....

Just kidding! Awesome truck!

What is the file size of the images from that camera at full resolution? Even with my dad's 2.1mp, they come out 1.2megs a piece.

I just saw the file size, I was typing my replly as you were posting your second reply. 3.5 megs, man that's hefty! Awesome picture though, stuff like this amazes me.

It is pretty neat stuff. I'm getting into it lately. The pic in raw is blurry except for the drivers door where the center of the pic was. If it had been on a tripod, it would have been much better because I was moving around some. The high exposure time I guess makes it hard to focus unless the camera is very still.

Great pic, Jack. Nice contrast if it was as dark as you say. Have you considered some graphics for the truck? (JMHO)

I haven't thought much about it to be honest. I put the emblems on the side, and I think I'm done for the moment. Mainly because I use it on missions with team decals on the side sometimes. I've seen a white one around here that's got some cool stuff on it.

If you took a picture of my truck would it look that nice???

It would have to be one amazing camera!!

Maybe in some cases less detail is better, hides the beauty marks better.

Nice camera, nicer truck!!

That pic is HUGE! Great quality man. I can almost read the tire pressure specifications on your tires! Im interested in things like this. Do you mind telling how much you paid for the kit? Thanks Jack.

Actually, I already tried zooming in to see if I could read his inspection sticker...it's not that clear.

Maybe after he get's some more practice with it.

I think that the blur that is there towards the corner is an effect of the open aperture you need under low light. Cool picture. Did you try the Canon EOS 300D too (also 6MPixel, can use the complete eos line of lenses- there's a nice tele with an optical image stabilizer for it )

I'd bet you could get DC to use that picture on one of their catalogs, nice pic., looks like you live in God's country Jack. I sure do love what a polarizer does to a photo.

I am very dis-appointed with my dig camera, low light pictures NEVER come out right. I am glad I know right away so I can take another with a few adjustments.
