Amazed at the grunt of the Cummins once again!
It snowed all day up here in MN yesterday with whiteout condintions most of the day. Putting a nice 8 inches of fluffy coating on the ground...
Well Im part owner in a snow plowing company, we have a few plow trucks and 2 skid loaders for clearing snow...
As the temps steadly dropped to nearly -25 below with 30 MPH winds coming out of the north.. I got the Carhartt gear on and headed to the shop to hook to one of the trailers and I loaded the John Deere 8875 skid loader up.. Got it chained down, and pulled out on a snow covered road.. locked in 4x4 I was spinning all 6 Good Year wrangler M/T's as I was pulling a fairly steep grade. I was able to pull it up the grade with Zero lack of power, however I did notice that it seemed a bit heavier than before.. Didnt think much of it.. As I got onto the highway i was doing about 45MPH and me and a buddy noticed a whining noise coming from the rear of the truck.. I thought that a wheel bearing on the trailer had froze.. Turned out that the trailer brakes where locked up..
Somone thought it would be funny to pull the emergency brake cable out just before i took off from the shop.. I found out who did it.. It was a Ford boy who thought i wouldnt be able to move the trailer with the brakes locked up..
I called him when we figured it out, and asked him.. "Anymore challenges for the Dodge tonight or are you done playing around??" Total silence on the other end..
I wonder if his 6.Ohno would of yanked it 5 miles before noticing that the brakes where locked...??
Just thought I would share..
