Almost ran over a girl tonight because of my window tint!
I was at a stoplight in somewhat heavy traffic tonight so it was dark out. I just put 5% tint on my side windows (standard cab, so i'm talking the main windows u roll down) it's great in the daylight for the sun, but I've realized I can't see anything at night. So I rolled through the intersection taking a left and I swear this girl walking across the crosswalk was 1 ft past my bumper when I notice her and pass the crosswalk.... I wouldn't have been able to deal with hitting her and causing something like that to happen so the tint's coming off tomorrow, and i'm gonna throw on some 35% tint. I mean if I would have accelerated like I normally do from a stop, she would have been under my front tire. So theres a reason they have tint laws, lol, and i'm following them from now on...

I have had 5 % on every truck I have owned I will admit its hard sometimes at night but I am so used to it by now its like second nature to roll down all the windows. I guess its just different strokes for different folks

I love it to, but the way the light was last night with headlights shining, she was totally blacked out and it woulda been bad news... I guess im not use to having limo tint on my side windows, but it was scary, it's like ur whole side is a blind spot at night, lol.

i cant see well at nite, it really sucks alot, so i dont tint any of the windows on my trucks, if its already tinted i leave it, if not, it stays stock, i have to open up my rear window or roll the window down to back up. alot of it has to do with my eyes.

In AZ, it's hard not to have tinted widows....statistically we get >300 days of sunshine per year and 110-120F days in June and July. Every little bit helps!
I have 25% on the front windows and a windshield strip and 5% on the rears. I just got the rears done last week.
I hear what you are saying about the 5%...I have a hard time seeing out my rear windows at night. But, that's why I have the 25% on the fronts.

I will only get 5% on the top windshield strip. I never go over 25% on the side windows or back. I bought my truck used with 17000 miles and it has 5% on the back wind and rear doors and 35% on the front doors. I can't stand it while backing a trailer in the dark. Thank goodness for the light under my trailer by the gooseneck hitch. It would give me a fit hooking it up in the dark if I didn't have that.

In California I think that having tinted side windows is illegal although nobody pays any attention to it. I had a Volvo with tinted side windows and did the same thing, almost hit a kid. Scared me half to death, the tint came off the next day.
5% - lets 5% of the light through, limo dark
25% - lets that much light through
Higher number = more light coming through

I put 5% in the rear area and 25% in the front. That way I would have the better vision at night in the front and still have the benefits of tint as far as a decrease in the sun's effects on the interior. When I am in town and faced with pedestrians, etc I many times will put down the windows for better visibility.
If tints are applied with a little fore-thought you can find YOUR balance with them, but 5% on the front drivers and passenger windows is WAY TOO MUCH for safe driving and safety to the public.

My truck had dark tint on the front side windows when I bought it. I got sick of not being able to see the side mirrors at night without rolling down the windows. I got out the razor and scraped it all off. Best Mod I have done to date.

I've got 20% on the front and rear. Although the rear have a factory tint so they're darker than the front. I can see just fine day or night. With the topper on the truck I can barely see out the back window. Use the side mirrors alot to back up.
