Here at the college we have the educational subscription, so I get to use it for free. It's really good, can get oem part numbers and costs, good pictures, diagnostics.

We have the education one here at LTI aswell but it comes with customer database and online parts ordering in the field. It can also be intigrated with a website for your business. I was just hoping someone had some experiance with all of it together. I like the setup on the computers we have here but it isnt the full deal and wanted some feedback on that... Anyone?

Do have a repair shop or a way to make money with it , or just rich and want to add to the tool collection ??? I haven't looked at prices for a few yrs. but the complete software [ wait ] about 3 levels repair, parts & estimating , management .
If your want to run a high end shop you realy need to get both Alldata & Mitchell on demand .
they manage to fill in for each other [ missing stuff ]
I like aldata for wiring diagrams and mitchell for repair info .
then for parts does your supplier have a prefrence [ some time they will supply]
Napa has there own system and also has access to Mitchell [ but that may of changed these 2 Co.s have gone round & round changed hands many times , Snap On was involve with both at one time.
Depending on what package you get anywhere from bear min. $5,000-8,000 and up to $20,000-25,000 ,the last includes computors , and I would recomend the software & computors at same time and same source , becouse it takes a fare amount of setup , and if your trying to run a shop you don'nt want a lot of down time to make your money back.
Hope this helps.

I am looking into the startup costs for a repair business. Many things you can do on just understanding the basics of how a car works, but Alldata is a great tool to speed things up and help for complex jobs. I use it at school quite a bit, though I havent tried Mitchell on Demand. I didnt want to get both, but was looking for some sort of all in one. Set up isnt much of a deal, I have a IT background and can get it all done easily and the website aswell.

Wish I was rich to afford it just because. Its a nice tool to have in your box.

If your doing a start up I would suggest mitchell on demand , just the repair soft ware , then get your own computor , or tell the sales guy that you need the requirements for the seperate purchase on your own ,to save $$$ and then maybe they'll make a deal , you don't need a lot of what a basic desktop comes with , and I would contacted Napa and get set up with there customer care program , co-op advertising, and a good thing for the customer-nation wide warentee on there parts and your work,[real clincher for someone getting ready to take a trip] then you get hooked up with there parts ordering computor , then call motor manuals and buy about 4 books for estamating , now your all setup and when your reading for updating the software [ and your stillin buisness] get everything , you do not need to get it all up front becouse when you open your door you'll have a lot of time on your hands and never enough $$$ , when its time to up date and you established some customers then you will not have any time and should have a little more money.
been there done that about 3 locations.
good luck , try to make it fun!!!

I was looking into it more due to my overhead really not being all that great for startup. It would be a nice addon if I could afford it. But 5K for the base model would be a bit much for me.
