I am using a 48000 btu pellet stove insert to augment my dual heat pumps instead of the old baseboad heat we had here for years...winter months it would cost me 600 a month for the electricity now I pay about half that including the pellet fuel.

I have lots and lots of trees and used to burn regular firewood but my wife has severe asthma and bronchitis, the smoke from a fire would choke her up. The pellet stove has very little smoke at all to it and then it is outside only. You can not smell the fire in the house at all when it is burning.

Wood heat is a pleasant heat, not like the Electric heat we have as well. My upstairs heat pump doesn't run at all once I fire up the pellet stove, the heat goes up the stairs and keeps it warm up there as well
