Morning all.
Today is Monday, November 1st. (already. wasn't it just summer?)
On this day in 1512 - Michelangelo's paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel were first exhibited to the public.
1765 - The British Parliament enacted The Stamp Act in the American colonies. The act was repealed in March of 1766 on the same day that the Parliament passed the Declaratory Acts which asserted that the British government had free and total legislative power of the colonies.
1800 - U.S. President John Adams became the first president to live in the White House when he moved in.
1861 - Gen. George B. McClellan was made the general-in-chief of the American Union armies.
1864 - The U.S. Post Office started selling money orders. The money orders provided a safe way to make payments by mail.
1870 - The U.S. Weather Bureau made its first meteorological observations using 24 locations that provided reports via telegraph.
1904 - The Army War College in Washington, DC, enrolled the first class.
1911 - Italy used planes to drop bombs on the Tanguira oasis in Libya. It was the first aerial bombing.
1936 - Benito Mussolini made a speech in Milan, Italy, in which he described the alliance between Italy and **** Germany as an "axis" running between Berlin and Rome.
1949 - In Washington, 55 people were killed when a fighter plane hit an airliner.
1952 - The United States exploded the first hydrogen bomb on Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands.
1962 - "The Lucy Show" premiered.
1968 - The movie rating system of G, M, R, X, followed by PG-13 and NC-17 went into effect.
1979 - Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini urged all Iranians to demonstrate on November 4 and to expand their attacks against the U.S. and Israel. On November 4, Iranian militants seized the U.S. embassy in Tehran and took 63 Americans hostage.
1981 - The U.S. Postal Service raised the first-class letter rate to 20 cents.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Why do we teach kids that violence is not the answer and then have them read about wars in school that solved America's problems?
Coffee is ready. It may taste a little unfamiliar... I had to change the breath mints in the urinals this weekend.

I agree. Our PD ramps it up pretty heavy for Halloween, we learned that the hard way.
We got dispatched to a dumpster fire last year that was against a building, what they forgot to say it was under the rear porch's of a 4 story block. We roll up and the entire rear of the building is going. So we commence operations and low and behold about 20 natives come out of the wood work with jacked up paintball guns making an all out assault on us. There were a couple cops there but they retreated to the safety of their cruisers until riot control could show up. We actually manned the deck guns for protection instead of firefighting. I rather enjoyed it at that point.

Morning folks, here's a little post race report. Sitting next to the track as close as we were yesterday I learned a couple things. Have you ever wondered how the flagman keeps up with the caution flag when he's not using it. I always figured he had a holder of some kind to put it in where it would be easily retrievable. I had no idea..........Ewwwwww

I also didn't think I would run into Scott there but big as life, there he was. Just an FYI, he's much taller in person. The best of many who came as Joe Dirt.

I've also got some video of the best spectator ride at the race but I'm going to have to host it somewhere first. Dodge was there and had a little road course set up giving fans a ride along in new Challengers and Vipers. The ride lasted only about 30 seconds but you only went in a straight line about 5 of that 30. The rest of the time was spent in power slides. The Viper was a trip to watch.

Well, I say hop back on those little engines and drive off until the local law controls the scene. As far as the LEO's, ask for no quarter and offer none. It was an ambush, take 'em out.

Just to clarify, we were already operating for 10-12 minutes, so hydrants were made, attack lines deployed throughout the building etc, etc. Dropping and running was not an option. However I understand your position.
Nice placement on the flag, that must have tortured you the entire race since you were right "behind" him staring at it.

DTR's Locomotive Superhero and the DTR Sweet Tea Specialist
Evening DTR, not a bad monday. Got assigned a job of tearing out a mile of chain link fence today. Made some decent progress on it today.
Got some good crude with winterizing additives, tea, sweet tea, and ph00 ready.
