ALK CoPilot Live GPS
I saw this software mentioned in Jack's thread about GPS units so I checked out their website. Anyone running ALK CoPilot Live GPS software on their Pocket PC? Anyone care to give a review?
I'm looking for a new GPS navigation application for my cell phone since my current provider (Mapopolis) has shut down retail sales. I've looked into TeleNav, but I don't like the idea of the maps provided via the data connection as it kills battery life to keep downloading, and when I'm in a rural area the download speeds aren't always the greatest.
I don't really want to switch to a dedicated GPS unit since my phone is capable using the Bluetooth GPS receiver and it works well. I just need new maps/navigation software.

I am just using it on a laptop. Co-pilot live, -10 Works well for me. They have good tech support and I think a money back guarentee. Give their sales department a call and expaine what you would like to use for the GPS, see if they have what you need.

Im not running the Copilot on a phone, but I have it on my laptop. I use the cheapo version, I think its CoPilot 9. Dell had it 20 bucks off and I couldn't pass up 60 bucks for a simple GPS setup when I travel.
The cheapo version isn't the best all the time. I do believe that version 10 is a lot better, but it does what I want it to do most of the time. On my last trip it only made two errors and that was out in the middle of nowhere and it didn't surprise me (what can you expect for 60 bucks?). I wasn't expecting it to be perfect.
Overall, even though I have the cheapo version, I really am happy with thier stuff. Everything for me and my wife was easy to use and set up. It also tracked well and the voice navigation was pretty right on when we used it. I was just happy it worked on my 6 year old laptop to boot!
Thats my .02

Howy,
You got a deal on Laptop-9 I remember seeing Dell had a good price on it when we ordered wife's new laptop. I have used co-pilot since it first came out and it gave the speed in knots. I run laptop-10 it works good. But, with any GPS nav system, look at a map, and check what road they want to take you on. One nice feature bot v 9 and 10 have is the RV mode that avoids sharp turns and narrow streets. Both also have bridge clearance on the Interstates.
Co-pilot has a couple of routs that take you on primative roads, Brewster WA to Twist WA standard routing is part unmaintained road. Same with Ellensburg to Wenatchee WA, routes on a "closed in winter, 4wd only" route.
Micosoft streets and trips does the same time of routing. Grants pass to the ocean is on a primative road.
Alwas check the map! Have fun, and don't get lost.
