74 VW Beetle
Guys, my daughter has a 74 VW Beetle. She wants to sell it and buy a newer one. I have no idea what to ask for it.
Here is the run down..
90,000 miles
new starter
exhaust
alternator
new electronic ignition
bright red...body straight....little rust on the front bumper
runs good except for an occasional vapor lock when its hot outside. Interior in good shape. Aftermarket CD player and speakers. Couldnt tell you what kind except its loud!!
any suggestions would be appreciated
I appologize to the Moderators if this is in the wrong spot or I am out of line.
Thanks

Huey, I don't have the slightest idea what something like that would be worth, maybe one of these guys will be able to chip in with a suggestion.
Are there VW forums out there? I guess the thing is too old to look up in the blue book, so you stuck back at guessing value.
I want to point out that Huey is not placing an ad here to sell this thing, he is asking for help in determining the value of the vehicle so he can help his daughter sell it.

Re:74 VW Beetle
Huey,
I've seen them around here anywhere from $750 - $4500.
This may be a good place to try:

later. . . .

Re:74 VW Beetle
There are a few VW forums out there that could probably help you.
BTW, if any of you reading this have an old Beetle and ever need parts and are having problems, in my area the old Beetle stuff is a dime a dozen. Almost every corner store sells parts for them. Let me know what you want and I can probably get it for you. OEM and aftermarket.

Is it a standard or super beetle? That year super has a rounded windshield and McPherson strut front suspension. Standards had a flat windshield with a beam style front suspension. Any floor pan rust? That's is one of the common problems here in the midwest.

Re:74 VW Beetle
A 74 is most likely a super beetle, not a favorite among VW collectors.
If it's in good condition, Not an auto stick, & is completely stock, you can figure $2000 as a good starting point.
That's just a guess since I haven't seen it.
