55 gallon bung size

Pretty simple question but I don't know the answer; what pipe thread size is the large threaded hole in the top of a 55 gallon drum? I think it's 2" NPT but it's been so long since I've used a drum for anything I can't remember.

I'm going to make a funnel by cutting a small water tank in half and welding a pipe nipple into the bottom of it, then screwing it into the 55 gallon drum bung to make pouring waste oil into it easier.

Yup it is 2" FPT, as for the draining process I just take it to my friend with the waste oil heater and let him worry about that..

Scotty, you cant tell the size just by putting your mouth over it and blowing!! Besides, it's metric for you .

Easiest conversion is to divide one inch by .0393700787402 than multiply it by two until you get 50.8mm (for the two inches).
To figure out the thread, put ink on your tongue, apply it to the side of the bung hole than press your tongue against a piece of paper. Measure the mark on the paper using a ruler to get the correct measurement (in stones).

Not my problem. It's the neighbors barrel and he's the one who wants the oil. I call, he comes and gets it. Whether he's gonna take the barrel away or pump it out, I don't know, but either way, not my problem!

Yeah, I did all that already. I was just trying to confirm my findings.

I honestly don't know how a thread on the size of bung holes didn't go downhill. Figured it would at least turn political.
