1972 Chevy C-60
My friend is looking at a 1972 Chevy C60 with a dump bed. It has a 7k front axle, a 17k rear axle. The motor is a 366 V8 that has been bored .30 over. The motor has been recently rebuilt. It has a 5 speed manual tranny. The truck also comes with a 20 ton low boy with air brakes.
My question is: What is a reasonable weight to expect the truck to tow? It will be used for short driving near his farm, under 20 miles each way on mostly back roads at low speeds.
We would like to be able to pull a medium sized bull dozer that weighs around 32k lbs. The trailer can support it, but I'm not sure how the truck will pull it.
Thanks

It will pull it no problem. I don't know how much you will have to down shift for the hills in your area, but shouldn't be a problem. Those 366 are a industrial big block engine with lots of low end torque but no high end power.

Thanks.
There are really no major hills in the area it would be moved around. It wouldn't get moved often and it would be from his farm about 10 miles to my house or 15 miles to someone else's farm.
The price for the truck and trailer is $1800, but it is about 375 miles away.
