Mornin' all,
Houston: Mostly Cloudy 76°F (24°C) Might be an OK day, maybe no rain.

ChrisR, good thanks for starting it, but keep the noise down please. Hmmm missed PT

CIN checking the back yard for donun package, good aim.

For my birthday over a week ago, got a nice smoker/ grill. Learning to use it.
Smoked some pork ribs and beef ribs, need more practice with the beef.
Had the ribs with 'tater salad, corn on the cob. Yum. DONT beleave the wife and daughter that I used the SOUTH BEACH DIET concentration camp cook book to start the fire with.

Charlott, momma spider is sitting in her water dish, toting the cacoon.

Time to roll the wife out of the sack, feed her and send her off to work.

Hat, enjoy your day. Last day of vacation?

Have a good un and be safe out there.

Hey, tone it down a tad, would ya???? Your 0445 is my 0145 and the sound is reverberating across the Rockies.

Now, where is the coffee pot hiding this time.......

Back to work, gotta make sparks and glowing lightbulbs so the world can see what the heck they're doing....

THREAD HIJACK: What we need around here is a forum for soon-to-be retiree's to get advise from those who have gone on before us. Boy, is it confusing. Anyone know the system well enough to give me some answers perhaps, drop me a PM. Or perhaps a pointer to an online site, similar to this one, that I might view.
THREAD returned to your normal? viewing.

Mornin' all,

Poor Hat - - back to work. Tough. Hope you enjoyed the sunshine state and didn't get any gator bites. Probably got the bejeebers scared out of you with the lightning storms.

Hey Don, nothing to retirement - - just do it, man. Fun. I tried to do it at 55 and got bored - - drove the Mrs. nuts. So, we both went back to work as consultants part time for many years. They sent us all over the world for the company - - nice paid trips - - fun. You might wander into the www.fidelity.com site and look for retirement planning. They have a worksheet to help you start thinking in the right direction. You don't have to be an investor with them to use the site, just establish an ID with them and go for it.

I see no one made the foo foo again this morning - - soooo, found the pot , cleaned it, found the coffee (Mocha Almond today) and made some. Not bad even if I say so myself. Found the sprinkles - - the donuts were long gone - - sprinkles were everywhere - - amazing that any were left on the donuts.

My printer decided to give up the ghost so it is decision time - - wandering the web to see what is out there. Soooo, I am out of here so I can go spend some money. See ya!!
Bob

Retire in 1 year, 5 months, and 15 days (if I don't throw the keys on the desk first). Looking forward to it. With military and civil service retirement combined, looking at about a $500 per month net pay increase.
Got plenty of projects to keep me busy for at least five years. The first one will be to let the hair grow and get the Willie Nelson look. The second one will be to cut it off and look "normal" again.

Scared? I've been hit by lightning in fl before... on a beef ranch in 'Chobee... Buliding fence, leaning against the wire to staple it up, and lightning hit about 1/8th of a mile down... I think I peed myself pretty good. I grew up with it. Be scared of the one that you don't hear the thunder...

Retirement!!!

Hey Fellas,

All of this talk of you guys getting ready to retire is just driving the point closer to home that I have a long, long ways to go before I can even think about retirement!!!!

Seriously, congrats to you guys! I will be at that point someday, (even if it seems like a lifetime away) and I just hope that I have good enough health and have saved enough money to enjoy some good retirement years.

My dad was fortunate enough to retire last summer at age 59. (I think) He is having the time of his life, bought a motorcycle, growing his hair and beard like a hippie, fishing a couple days a week, working on building his new workshop, ect. ect. ect. Oh what a life! He says, "With everything I've got to do, I don't see how I found the time to go to work!"

I don't know whether to say it's late night or early morning, I woke up at 7:12 am Monday and I have yet to sleep and I'm about to go to work early so I don't have to stay as long. I was thinking at 5:30 that I was going to get to bed early and have a good nights sleep. Then a buddy called and said that he needed his truck hauled to his mechanic in a town 80 miles away, asap. (95 Ford Powerstroke) So by the time we got a trailer I felt secure in pulling and his truck loaded (which could barely run, hence the reason to take it to his mechanic) it was 9pm. That truck sounded absolutely terrible and died 4 times while he was just backing it up. It took a 60's model Ford Ranger and a chain to get the truck on the trailer. The we haul it over there and the truck started just fine, backed down on it's own power. I commented to him that my dad had luck with horses that are trying to colic, to jump them in a trailer and run them down a rough road. He said great, now your comparing my truck to a colicky horse. I wish I took pics, it was a nice Ford that I had loaded behind my truck. Got home at 1:30am, and thinking I'm just going to get a 15 minute nap before going into work.
