grinding metal does it for you.....

waiting on the rain; played chaikwa and MIG welded a chair (missing front metal, 1950s era) then hubby asked for splitter delivery, split up a big ash for the boiler. have to bring it back on line as our tenant is putting a hurt on our propane. 85 degrees in there, so he opens a window.....might set his thermostat and then unhook the wires....I dunno.

unloaded pallets. pruned some bushes. made lunch. used the real welder and put a trailer frame back in shape for neighbor. like a drive up service today.....have to finish two projects yet here I am....

Wow, what a quiet day in the breakroom. Normally at this stage in the week, I would whine about how much my week sucked. Let's be honest, I wasn't involved in any explosion - either terror related or fertilizer plant related; so, how bad could it really have been. One of my employees has a friend from here in Calgary who finished the marathon less than 2 minutes before the bombs went off. That is too close to home. About 4 miles from us there is a huge fertilizer plant and there is an explosives plant next door to the fertilizer plant. Apparently the base ingredients for the explosives are manufactured at the fertilizer plant. DW and I have often surmised that if the plant ever blows up, we are going to be living on the edge of a coulee. I guess we now know that is pretty much the truth.
I got a new job this week. Still at the same company and it is a lateral move but that is all good with me. It is a really good company and I needed to change bosees - that is now accomplished, I am the happiest I have been at work in a long time.
Is it sad that I think it is beautiful outside this evening simply because it is sunny and with no wind, even though it is only about 3 degrees above freezing?
DW and I are having fun food for dinner tonite - Chinese pot stickers and samosas; but first time for some wine and a few games of pool. JWBM - I hope that helps you enjoy life vicariously as an honorary Albertan.

JWBM - I just realized I may not be able to make you an honorary Albertan, I probably don't have that authority. Instead, I think I can make you an honorary Dalemeadian. We are a fun little hamlet. The daytime population of Dalemead is probably 10 but the nighttime population is about 40. This place used to be a fair bit bigger but over the last 30 years the community hall burnt down and the train station was taken down. In the last 20 years the grain elevators were torn down and the general store closed. I think it would have been neat to live here when that stuff was all still here. DW and I moved here in November 2001. Even with the loss of town stuff, our neighbors and community members are amazing and we all seem to get along well. DW and I love this place.

Right! Hence my liking of 'heavy metal'!

Is that the welder that you pedal and Mike welds and when he needs more amps he tells you to pedal faster?

Evening all.

If you put a round one t-stat on the back wall of a church auditorium, not hooked up to anything, it serves the purpose of making the little old ladies comfortable when they set it where they want it.

Honestly, we did that more than once.

We preg checked our fall calvers this afternoon. One hereford kept running into the tub, then running back out through the three coming in behind her, and about over me. Got tired of her doing it and gave her the what-for in the nose. It may be the softest part of their head, but I do not recommend putting all you have into punching it.

I might be able to use my right hand tomorrow.

JWBM, the wind storm we had last week that destroyed all the pivots, also blew round bales all over the place. Guess some were even rolling down the highway.

Never was a fan of drowning pool.
Well, except for that one album about 8 or so years ago.

Alcoholica? I like them ok.

Morning all.

It's Saturday, April 20th.

1775 - American troops began the siege of British-held Boston.

1832 - Hot Springs National Park was established by an act of the U.S. Congress. It was the first national park in the U.S.

1836 - The U.S. territory of Wisconsin was created by the U.S. Congress.

1861 - Robert E. Lee resigned from U.S. Army.

1865 - Safety matches were first advertised.

1940 - The First electron microscope was demonstrated by RCA.

1942 - Pierre Laval, the premier of Vichy France, in a radio broadcast, establishes a policy of "true reconciliation with Germany."

1945 - Soviet troops began their attack on Berlin.

1945 - During World War II, Allied forces took control of the German cities of Nuremberg and Stuttgart.

1951 - General MacArthur addressed the joint session of Congress after being relieved by U.S. President Truman.

1953 - Operation Little Switch began in Korea. It was the exchange of sick and wounded prisoners of war. Thirty Americans were freed.

1961 - FM stereo broadcasting was approved by the FCC.

1967 - U.S. planes bombed Haiphong for first time during the Vietnam War.

1971 - The U.S. Supreme Court upheld the use of busing to achieve racial desegregation in schools.

1972 - The manned lunar module from Apollo 16 landed on the moon.

1981 - A spokesman for the U.S. Nave announced that the U.S. was accepting full responsibility for the sinking of the Nissho Maru on April 9.

1988 - The U.S. Air Forces' Stealth (B-2 bomber) was officially unveiled.

Today's thought:
Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

C0ffee and ph00 are ready. In honor of Boston's LEO's, today's phlavour is 'Taste of Justice', a bitter-sweet blend laced with just a touch of pain.

nope, Mike was cutting up wood. that's when the neighbors usually come around to me. Mike does the big stuff, I do the tight spaces stuff. I am the friendly one so that may have something to do with it. remember I come out to visit you, not to impress you

yowza flatlanders! that's some wind

Morning Glories! it is snowing and blowing here. like a snowglobe in the hands of a three year old. going out to the barn to finish weld the chair so it looks purdy like chaikwa. then put my risers and reassemble the handlebars, ect on my harley. so relaxing with music on, sad that the oldies station plays newer stuff than I grew up hearing.

Thank God for the guy seeing blood on his parked boat in Boston (area). feel for the parents that had to explain stuff to all the kids there....
we had race riots sure, but this was the boogymen/unknown/unseen stuff.

Hey fellas- POST! c'mon and join the breakroom anytime!! love to hear what y'all R up 2!

Afternoon all y'all. The plan to take DW to Calgary for some retail therapy got cancelled. Mother Nature is having another hissy fit. We have strong winds (not strong enough to roll round bales though), snow, rain and freezing rain. That is going to make a mess on the roads again. The stress to DW of being on bad roads would outweigh any benefits from happy shopping endorphins. So, shopping postponed until another day. Now I just need to figure out something nice for dinner tonight. It is too windy for bbq so it will have to be an inside recipe. Strong wind also means no hot-tub time tonight
Come on folks, someone do SOMETHING to shake up this breakroom.

The local hardware has pretty good rates. They even cleared some bench space and let me use their tools to replace an anti-vibe bushing and some screws one time. But if you insist, I might get them drained and bagged and boxed by this time next year.

1775 - American troops began the siege of British-held Boston.
If you read up on this, it was quite ingenious how they did it. One day there was open fields, the next there was no way out of the city except by boat.

Every time I hear someone talking about some celebrity doing something stupid and how they disappointed they are, whatever, I ask that same question, but use "minutes" instead of "years".

we used super sticky army duct tape on the nose of the curious, they tend to stay away from you as they can't comprehend what you just did but they don't like it; after we got yelled at for using flex pvc tubing
I doubt duct tape would have done much. She seemed pretty happy about just running right through everyone and being a pain. I want a taser, but might look into a hotshot tonight.
Middle finger is slightly swelled, hand behind it is pretty swelled, can use it, but it's pretty sore.
Don't mind the curious ones, they tend to be the tame ones.
Just about all set up for moving cattle back to pasture Monday. Going to be a long day. high of 45 and good chance of rain.

Probably not, but our gov't is here to help us. After a 24 hour congressional session, longest this year on a single topic, a bipartisan committee has has drafted a bill for immediate ratification. Both sides voted unanimously to protect the population at large by banning all races, marathons and sporting events. They feel it's too difficult to catch the bad guys so they're removing the temptation to hunt over a baited field.

Boy do I feel sorry for you. On top of everything else that can go wrong you now have a prostate. On the good side you do not have gall stones, or a gall bladder.

Been blown up once, yes it sucks. I made a great "impression" in a plywood wall. It kinda looked like a big snow angel. Been praying for the folks in Texas.

If I'm doing CPR on you and you want to stay alive you better knock off that crap, it's not music. Way back when I had a white suit to wear when Staying Alive was in the top 20. I was as skinny as John Travolta too!

Fender mounted turn indicators, had them in the 70's. I liked them, sad times changed.

Evening all. Things have been goofy as usual. We get 2 days of working weather then it rains and we're shut down for 4. This is the most frustrating job I've been on in a long time.
