New 2012 2500

Looking at getting a new Ram 2500. I had a 2003 HO qc lb 6 speed, but currently have a 94 12 valve auto. If I get one, it will be a crew cab long 4x4. I want to at leasr consider the Hemi, but will probably get the Cummins. I found a dealer that has auto and manuals, st and slt, and some hemis.

I dont really pull much more than a car or my tractor, but would like a camper in a few years. I will also use it to get mulch and lumber and such. Obviously I dont need the diesel, but who doesnt enjoy that torque?

Any thoughts on auto vs manual or Hemi vs Cummins or st vs slt. I searched and found a little, but not much on Hemi with 6 speed auto. The St has 95% of the options i want, so not sure if slt is worth it. I have looked at used, but there is only about a $3000 savings after figuring tax savings with trade in. The main things I would like the slt for are steering wheel audio controls, fog lights, power seat (not that important), overhead console (also not that important), and rear defrost.

I am thinking $10k or so off sticker?

Sorry for the long post. Thanks for your advice.

With the 2013s (major changes) on the way in a couple of months I would shoot for $12k off sticker. As far as ST vs. SLT, You'll love these new trucks either way, but you might have an easier time selling an SLT when the time comes...more potential buyers. Just something to consider. Same for gas vs. diesel- you'll get the $6k back at resale if you go diesel.

Ditto on all points. Depending on how bad they want to move a new truck, you may even get a Big Horn or Laramie at a price that would surprise you.

Not in any rush to buy, but figured yesterday was the end of the month, so I stopped at the closest dealer. The closest they had on the lot to what I want is a Big Horn CC LB 4x4 Cummins auto. Sticker was $53k. They only wanted to come down about $8500. Guess I will keep looking for a dealer that wants to sell.

My biggest surprise was how well I liked the new Hemi. They only had it in CC SB, but much nicer than the 3rd gens with the Hemi.
