David:
Thanks for posting the dyno numbers from the Scheid Rally!
I want to sincerely thank you and your entire crew for being
there! I think we all learned some things about the way the
two dynos (Mustang vs Dynojet) measure H.P. and torque.
It was a pleasure working with you guys and comparing
the numbers on "stock vs BOMBED" trucks. The numbers
on the Scheid Dyno have been posted by Dawn on their
website (www.scheiddiesel.com) under "Extravaganza,
Dyno Numbers". (Thanks Dawn!)
Thanks again for everything David! It was great to see
you guys again.

It would be nice to that rig on the Dyno Justin. Use your charm to get them onto the dyno next go round. I cant imagine the crowd that would gather for that one.

Truthfully Don,
That truck could not be loaded properly to spool on a Dynojet or even a Mustang.
Unless maybe they could lock the wheels on somehow and provide a 70k lb load.
But, this is just my opinion.
Engine dyno would probably be more appropriate for that type of thing.
I dont think they put Prostock or Superstock tractors on wheel dynos, do to the shock power increase once the turbos get lit, it would get downright dangerous.
Yeah, its no longer 1000hp, its more like 1500hp.
Its comparible to a Superstock or Prostock Diesel pulling tractor engine in a pickup truck. (for those of you that know about competition pulling tractors)

I dont know everything about pulling tractors thats for certain, but I am learning slowly. The John Deere puller I worked with this summer made a nice improvement with some camshaft and injectors I threw in. It engine dynoed in the 1100 HP range @ 2600 rpm. We got it up to 1350 now. 2600 ft lbs too!!
The Scheid truck could dyno on a DynoJet. I have seen 1200 HP on one in person. No tire slippage and no troubles.

Don,
Did the engine dyno load the engine so it could create that 1100HP?
How about the 1350/2600?
I have seen a 1000+hp run on a jet.
But that vehicle had no where near the torque a Scheid or equivalent engine would have. Besides the turbos the vehicle in question ran were small and could spool on a jet.
We have engine dyno's here at work, and we dont get our torque and power numbers without a load.

Okay, I'm confused cause I looked at the dyno number from the Scheid web site on both the Mustand and DynoJet dyno's. I'm going to show my dyno ignorance here, but what is the difference between the Mustang and DynoJet dyno's? Why is there such a high discrepency in the two. Case in point, I went through both lists and found all people that dyno'd both days with the same truck. There are huge descrepencies between the two

Zach Dallas Mustang Dyno Run

So 5 people with the same trucks dyno different #'s on two different dynos. Why the big disecrepency.
I find it funny that using Mustang Dyno, that the highest truck that ran only put out 488 HP (John Porterfields 04 Dodge), while the very next day on the DynoJet, there were 12 trucks that put out more HP than the highest rated truck on the Mustang, with the highest rated truck going to Rick Wallace's 98 Dodge at 637 HP
Doesn't the DynoJet #'s seem off to anyone else?

I knew this one would come up, just wondering why it took so long.
The Mustang MD-250 was limited to 500hp from tha factory. While the software was upgraded to allow 1000hp, we found out that the rollers could not hold it. Add to that the torque of the diesels and you see that the tires just slipped.
The torque numbers were always higher on the Mustang vs the Dyno Jet. I guess I feel the Mustang was a bit optimistic since a new stock Excursion made 600 TQ on the Mustang and just under 500 on the dynojet (483 I think).
There will always be a debate on loading vs non loading. From what I have seen a Dyno Jet in most cases is the most accurate dyno. This because it relies on a very simple method of measuring HP. Does this mean the Dyno Jet will ALWAYS be right? Of course not. Very large, or turbo's that don't respond well make life difficult for me. But in most cases, I can make them work.
My question is why do you suspect the Dyno Jet #'s as the ones being off? In most cases with our LD pickup diesel engines, they make about 50% of the torque in HP. 235/460, 325/600, 180/420 etc. Why would there be a drastic change at the rear tires? I would be suspect if I had a 300hp engine that made 1000+ foot pounds of torque.
